  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2016

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

    Everton deserve the lead.

  2. goal

GOAL - Everton 1-0 Manchester Citypublished at 45 mins

    Ramiro Funes Mori

    Goodison Park is alive.

Tom Cleverley whips in a corner from the right, it falls to Ross Barkley, and his shot is parried away by goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

Ramiro Funes Mori touches home the rebound but should that be offside?

The defender was onside but Romelu Lukaku was in an offside position and standing very close to the keeper. Certainly very close to being in his line of sight.

Interfering? Everton don't care, they are ahead.

  3. 'Game has swung Everton's way'published at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2016

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

    Danny Mills
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"Possession has swung in Everton's favour, they're on the front-foot. Yaya Toure epitomizes that. He's such a fantastic player, but it must be frustrating as a manager to see him just wandering around. Everton are playing against the best group of players in the league."

  4. CLOSE! (ish)published at 43 mins

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City 0

City instantly break and Sergio Aguero is denied by goalkeeper Joel Robles.

    Some excitement.

Who needs a lottery draw eh?

  5. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 41 mins

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

That is never going to stand as Romelu Lukaku rolls the ball into the net.

He was only offside by about five yards,

Lovely bit of skill by Gerard Deulofeu to roll him in though.

Francis Edwards: Fabian Delph must think he's playing rugby. Someone tell him you do not have to pass the ball backwards or sideways.

Get worried if he starts picking the ball up Francis...

  7. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

Yaya Toure is summing City's last 15 minutes up.

If you had a player lumbering around, looking totally disinterested, in your five-a-side team, you would give him a right rollicking.

Yaya though gets away with it because you know what he is capable of.

Everton won't want this half to end.

  8. 'Two players offside'published at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2016

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

    Danny Mills
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"The linesman put his flag up very early. There were two players in an offside position. If Lukaku had got his head on it, it would have been ok."

  9. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 37 mins

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

    Clumsy, clumsy challenge from Fernandinho.

    Everton have a free-kick 35 yards out.

Leighton Baines takes 10 steps back, he chips in, Gareth Barry heads across goal and John Stones smacks the ball into the net.

Wait a minute. The flag is up, Barry is offside.

Don't you dare switch over to Big Brother.

It hasn't got that bad yet.

This will get better. I promise you.

  11. 'Good chance for Lukaku'published at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2016

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

    Danny Mills
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"It was a great challenge by Muhamed Besic on Yaya Toure and a great ball through from Gerard Deulofeu to Romelu Lukaku. The right foot might be slightly weaker, but sometimes you've just got to pull the trigger."

  12. Postpublished at 31 mins

A better touch there and Romelu Lukaku is in.

Gerard Deulofeu slides in a delicious ball to the Belgian but his first touch takes the ball away and the chance is gone.

That chance came from Yaya Toure losing possession deep in Everton's half. He may be some player but, at times, the Ivorian looks like a dying swan.

Manchester City corner... the big men are up... can they?

Nope, the ball is cleared to Sergio Aguero on the edge of the penalty area and he almost hits the corner flag with a shot.

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

The home fans are beginning to believe.

After soaking up early pressure, Everton are having a right go.

Gerard Deulofeu didn't learn that at Barcelona though. The ex-Barca youngster finds acres down the right but, with Romelu Lukaku waiting, he crosses into the side netting.

It looks like a shot but I think it was just a useless cross.

  16. CLOSE!published at 24 mins

Kevin de Bruyne fires in a corner from the right, Nicolas Otamendi rises like a salmon but heads wide for City.

    All aboard the showboat.

Gerard Deulofeu produces a little bit of magic on the ball - the type most of us would fall over trying - but his through ball is just over hit.

  18. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

A huge roar from the home fans.

No, it's not a goal or even a shot. Everton force a corner.

The noise dies down as Yaya Toure heads Leighton Baines' delivery away.

  19. 'Cagey start'published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2016

    Everton 0-0 Manchester City

    Danny Mills
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"It's a very nervous, cagey start from both sides. Sometimes you can have that in the first leg of a tie when nobody wants to give anything away."

  20. Man City in calm controlpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2016

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

For all the talk of Everton flying out in a manner which would unsettle Manchester City, Roberto Martinez's side are sitting back and letting the visitors dictate.

It has led to a subdued atmosphere inside Goodison Park - although the Manchester City supporters are happy enough with what they have seen so far.
