A new stadium to look forward to next season, an uncompromising manager and a squad packed with talented players, West Ham have plenty to be smiling about.

The Hammers are currently sixth in the table after an impressive draw against Manchester City and may feel aggrieved not to take all three points.

Boss Slaven Bilic summed their game up perfectly:

"It was a great game of football. I'm so proud of our team and Man City. There was everything in it. Four goals, chances, yellow cards and a penalty."

In a season where no team has taken control of the league, once again Manchester City failed to stamp their authority on the other challengers.

It needed two goals from striker Sergio Aguero to rescue them against West Ham at Upton Park, as they fell three points behind leaders Leicester.

Manuel Pellegrini's side have problems away from home, winning just four games on the road all season.

Can that go on if they want to finish top in May? I don't think so.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri continued to dismiss talk of the title, stating 40 points was their aim to stay in the Premier League. They now have 47 so how did he feel after beating Stoke?

"Nobody can believe it," said the Italian. "Our fans are dreaming and I want them to continue to dream. I don't know if we are a contender at this moment. February is a big month and after that month I can say something more realistic."

Leicester's fairytale continues and Ranieri is a hard man to dislike.

We are deep into January now and still asking if Leicester are title contenders. The Foxes are top of the pile, three points clear of Manchester City in second and Arsenal in third.

So when do we say, "yes, Leicester are challengers for the crown"?

Well, we'll find out in their next three games when they come up against Liverpool, City and Arsenal.

Their showing against Stoke was full of energy and industry with the ever-lasting N'Golo Kante still running at the King Power Stadium this morning.

Jamie Vardy was back on the scoresheet after six league games without netting, so it's all looking rather rosy for Claudio Ranieri's side. For now.

Adam Lallana's 95th minute strike caused such wild celebrations from the Liverpool players and manager that Jurgen Klopp ended up breaking his glasses.

Klopp was swamped by his players - and his trademark specs slipped off.

"I have a second pair of glasses, but I can't find them," said Klopp. "It's hard to find glasses without glasses. We won for the first time against Bayern Munich and Nuri Sahin broke my glasses. Today it was Adam Lallana."

Liverpool were the ones smiling at full-time after snatching a late, late winner courtesy of Adam Lallana, sparking wild celebrations.

Norwich thought they had nicked a point when defender Sebastien Bassong drilled in a low finish, this after going 3-1 up and falling 3-4 behind.

Marcus Tongue: In a five-a-side game, a couple of weeks previous we had been beaten badly by the same team but the replay was another story. We were drawing and two minutes before the end a team mate tees me up and I volley it home from about 15 yards...pandemonium ensued...

  12. United have underachieved - Gillpublished at 10:37

There's pressure from within now for Louis van Gaal too as former Manchester United chief executive David Gill admits the side has underachieved this season.

The Red Devils supporters were particularly unhappy after the Southampton defeat and there were loud boos from the home fans at the final whistle.

"We all hoped results would be better," Gill, who is on the board of directors at club, told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I know everyone at the club is working hard to turn things around. We have to stick together.

"We don't want booing we want cheering. We have to stay calm and act with the club in mind moving forward."

Only one place to start for Saturday's action and that's at Old Trafford where boss Louis van Gaal hangs on to his job following another dull, uninspiring display.

The Red Devils managed just one shot on target as Southampton snatched victory to complete back-to-back wins away to United.

"They are right to boo. I cannot deny that, I saw the match," said Van Gaal.

"For better or for worse we have to stick together. We are working very hard, but we have had a lot of injuries. That you cannot change."

Management, tactics, getting off your seat are things you can change though, Louis.

Talking of Jose Mourinho, a remarkable piece in the Independent on Sunday states the Portuguese manager sent a six-page "love letter" to Manchester United, outlining his credentials for the job.

He offers an emphasis on how much he wants to take over at Old Trafford, in which areas the squad could improve and suggested signings.

Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes has hit back at the article though, describing it as "totally absurd".

    Very interesting.
