  2. Tisdale: Let's not get too excitedpublished at 19:17

    Exeter v Liverpool (19:55 GMT)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Exeter manager Paul Tisdale reacts to Liverpool's inexperienced line-up:

"I have to say we've prepared all week and I didn't know what team would arrive today.

"These are players of a Liverpool squad and wearing the Liverpool shirt. Let's not get the horn too soon. It would be a mistake to charge into this game thinking we're going to win."

    Exeter v Liverpool (19:55 GMT)

The turnout of fans travelling from Merseyside might be thin tonight.

The last train to return to Liverpool from Exeter this evening departs at 18:25 GMT - i.e. 50 minutes ago.

You'll spot a problem for those Liverpool fans who want to watch and return home on the same evening.

The BBC and FA have both come under criticism for the scheduling of the tie.

Three Liverpool players are making their senior debuts for the club as Jurgen Klopp makes 11 changes for the game at Exeter.

Defender Tiago Ilori, who recently had his loan spell at Aston Villa cancelled, starts, as does winger Ryan Kent and midfielder Kevin Stewart, who returned from League One Swindon this week.

Christian Benteke starts in attack and captains the side for the first time in his Liverpool career. Jurgen Klopp has had to ring the changes, with 13 first team players out injured.

Exeter XI: Olejnik, Woodman, Noble, Ribeiro, Holmes, Nicholls, Moore-Taylor, Reid, Nichols, Tillson, Brown. Subs: McAllister, Oakley, Davies, Morrison, Hoskins, Hamon, Grant.

Liverpool XI: Bogdan, Randall, Ilori, Enrique, Smith, Brannagan, Stewart, Teixeira, Kent, Sinclair, Benteke. Subs: Fulton, Lallana, Lucas, Ojo, Maguire, Chirivella, Masterson.

  8. Battle of the bandspublished at 19:10

    Exeter v Liverpool (19:55 GMT)

Yeah, Liverpool have got the Beatles, Echo and the Bunnymen, the La's, the Farm, Cast and, er, Heidi Range.

But Exeter have got Chris Martin. And Joss Stone. That is a pretty punch record sales-per-capita return for the Grecians.

The prospect of Liverpool coming to St James Park has definitely not put the fear of god into Martin.

The Coldplay crooner looks decidedly chillaxed as he wishes his hometown good luck on social media.

No word yet from Stone on tonight's match, but I think we can presume she is backing Paul Tisdale's boys.

Right-back Christian Ribeiro and midfielder David Noble start their first games since November after recently returning from injury as substitutes.

Midfielder David Wheeler, as expected, has failed to recover from an ankle injury in time for the match.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BBC Sport: "On video I saw some of those playing. Not all of them I saw a lot but it is the situation and special problems need special solutions. These boys know each other, a lot of them have played in the youth and this is the future of Liverpool FC.

"We don't have the chance to gamble. It is the only team I could present tonight. We had to react on our situation. It is not usual you have this situation with centre-halves.

“Nobody is resting. All are doing what they have to do to be in the best shape.

"The FA Cup creates special stories, usually from the smaller clubs so in our situation we are the challenger."

On being interviewed in the Exeter kitchen: “You cannot imagine where I played. It is nice, I was looking for my cup but there is no cup with my name.”

Seventy two league places, 63 historical trophies and many millions of modern pounds between them, but Liverpool cannot afford to take League Two Exeter lightly.

With hamstrings tighter than piano strings and a packed fixture list, Jurgen Klopp is set to name a mix of could-bes and has-beens in tonight's line-up.

Youngsters Ryan Kent, Sheyi Ojo and Tiago Ilori - recalled from loan spells at Coventry, Wolves and Aston Villa respectively - could all make their first-team debuts for the Reds.

Liverpool are in the St James Park building.

Their sleek team bus has just purred up to Exeter's stadium and spat out its multi-million pound cargo.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp leads the team out with a wry smile to chants of his name.

His players - including Christian Benteke, Adam Lallana and Jose Enrique - pile into the dressing room and quickly cause a backlog. They are used to roomier surroundings.

Now Klopp is being interviewed in the small club kitchen. Sue and Tracy - the club's cooks - graciously allow Klopp five minutes before shooing him out.

"Magic of the cup", "David v Goliath", "Banana skin", "a cabbage patch of a pitch".

We have all heard the third-round commentary cliches many times, probably on a live text not far from here.

Today we want you to freshen up the lexicon.

Maybe a tricky away trip for a top side should be a potential "dung-drop" of a tie.

Or a lower-league team allowing a lead to slip away against one of the big boys could be said to "cup-pitulate".
