  2. 'You always get a chance'published at 47 mins

    Derby 1-1 Man Utd

MOTD's touchline presenter Dan Walker is chatting to a couple of football legends - Derby hero Roy McFarland and former Manchester United man Paul Ince...

"We never got going, couldn't string two passes together," says McFarland. "United opened very sharply, but did not create a lot of chances. But we stuck at it. Funnily enough it was the only time we put anything together."

Ince isn't impressed with the away backline: "Defensively they're not great and you will always get a chance against them - as it has been proved. Derby gave them too much respect and stood off them. But the goal gave them more belief and they can go on and win this game now."

Anthony Martial gets by players so easily! He glides away from Cyrus Christie again and fires a low cross right through the goalmouth. Christie is chasing shadows at right-back, he needs help.

Can all these so called Pundits and Critics please tell me how Van Gaal is meant to teach professional footballers their first touch? It has been happening all season, bad touch means bad decisions. Talk technically about what the players are doing wrong pundits and stop being lazy by just blaming the manager's tactics. Defensive frailties have been covered by Van Gaal's tactics. Hence why he is playing them.

Have Manchester United been that bad? Not judging by the stats. They have dominated possession and territory - as you would expect a Premier League side to do against one from the Championship. But the stat which really matters is the one at the top of this entry...

    Peter Schmeichel
Former Manchester United goalkeeper on BBC One

"I don't see a big difference between the two teams. A lot of possession and a great goal by Wayne Rooney but someone has to step up and do something out of the ordinary for them to get going. Derby have played Manchester United quite well so far. Derby needed to step forward and they have done well since their goal."
