Three additional minutes will be added.

  2. Walsall 2-0 Port Valepublished at 87 mins

Just a few minutes remaining and substitute Jordan Cooks looks as if he has given Sean O'Driscoll the ideal start as Walsall boss.

If the hosts hang on, as they surely will, they move up to second in League One and to within three points of leaders Burton, who have played one game more.

    Walsall 2-0 Port Vale

Jordan Cook with his second poached effort of the afternoon.

After Ryan McGivern did so well to defuse danger in the area by digging the ball out of the area, the ball breaks loose and Cook places to the left of Vale goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.

  5. Walsall 1-0 Port Valepublished at 81 mins

It is Walsall now showing their defensive composure.

They have numbers back as Port Vales come in waves. In the end Adam Chambers gets a good block on AJ Leitch-Smith.

Plenty of life left in this game.

  6. Walsall 1-0 Port Valepublished at 78 mins

Walsall pair Anthony Forde and Milan Lalkovic are working well in tight spaces inside the Vale box.

While the hosts fail to carve a chance out for themselves, their presence inside the area is telling as Port Vale's defence is falling further and further back after being so unrelenting for so long at Bescot Stadium.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 70 mins

    Walsall 1-0 Port Vale

Jak Alnwick makes himself big, comes off his line and denies Anthony Forde as he tries to place the ball beyond the Port Vale goalkeeper.

Alnwick gets a leg to it. Fine save.

  12. Walsall 1-0 Port Valepublished at 68 mins

Walsall looking for a quick second. George Evans will look back that attempt with regret, as he turns and blasts over.

For once, Evans had more time and space to run into on the edge of the area.

  13. goal

    GOAL (Cook)published at 64 mins

    Walsall 1-0 Port Vale

Off the bench and onto the scoresheet. Jordan Cook gave the hosts renewed energy on his introduction.

His foray forward creates space for Romaine Sawyers, who tests the Port Vale goalkeeper. But the danger is still there as Vale's Anthony Grant slips while in possession and the ball is switched to the left side.

In the end, it is a simple close-range finish for the substitute following up on Anthony Forde's shot, which was kept out by Jak Alnwick.

Sheffield Wednesday v Wolves (14:00 GMT)

Sheffield Wednesday hand starts to strikers Gary Hooper and Lucas Joao and midfielders Ross Wallace and Sam Hutchinson.

The Owls are looking to end a run of four games without a win.

Wolves make two changes to the team beaten 3-2 by Leeds on Thursday.

Matt Doherty comes in for Scott Golbourne in defence and Nathan Byrne replaces Dave Edwards in midfield.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 59 mins

    Walsall 0-0 Port Vale

Walsall make their first change and it is Kieron Morris making way for Jordan Cook.

  16. Walsall 0-0 Port Valepublished at 58 mins

Port Vale pressing high and forcing Walsall to work hard out of defence. It's not coming easy for the high-flying hosts.

The ball breaks for Vale's AJ Leitch-Smith and he runs at the Saddlers' defence, shapes to shoot and pulls the trigger. It's blocked, but ominous.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 54 mins

    Walsall 0-0 Port Vale

Port Vale's Louis Dodds, in an attempt to get to a high ball over the top, seems to do himself some hamstring damage as he stretches for the ball.

His afternoon is over as he is replaced by Uche Ikpeazu.

  18. Walsall 0-0 Port Valepublished at 52 mins

That effort and early marauding movement from AJ Leitch-Smith should serve as a warning for Walsall. The 25-year-old has been in fine recent form, scoring six goals in the last seven games before today.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 50 mins

    Walsall 0-0 Port Vale

Walsall goalkeeper Neil Etheridge gets down low to keep AJ Leitch-Smith out.

The Port Vale striker didn't have much room, or much of a view at goal, but he gets a dangerous snap shot off at the near post.
