    FC Midtjylland 0-0 Man Utd

Daley Blind's left foot is working well enough and he teases in a dangerous cross but Anthony Martial makes a hash of the header, times it wrong and the ball hits him on the chin.

After 35 minutes it's not looking like £71 well spent for the away fans...

I'm looking at the bench already. Could any of these perform the role of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tonight and make an impact off the bench?

A bitty, scrappy passage of play since that Chris Smalling header. Both teams littered with errors in their approach play. Former Arsenal youngster Kris Olsson does carry the ball nicely on a 50-yard burst down the centre but it comes to nothing in the end.

Anthony Martial just breezes past defenders, he's superb on the ball at times. He glides away from Kian Hansen and goes down inside the area - he wants a penalty but referee Artur Dias is unmoved. No booking for a dive for Martial though. It had to be one or the other there...

This would be a cracking team... if only Manchester United could get them on the field together!

  8. CLOSE!published at 20 mins

    FC Midtjylland 0-0 Man Utd

Neither team can defend at a corner! What a chance for Chris Smalling, given the freedom of Jutland to meet Daley Blind's corner but with the entire surface area of the goal to aim at, he heads wide from eight yards out! A huge opportunity.

United defender Donald Love hasn't put a foot wrong so far, a big night for the youngster. United win a corner through Memphis Depay but Ander Herrera can't control his header and it's over the top.

What a chance. You wonder whether the Danes will get a better chance than that tonight. United look a touch rattled, there's no composure on the ball at the moment.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 11 mins

Manchester United's Sergio Romero makes a saveImage source, Reuters

Free header! Great save! Daley Blind loses his man Kian Hansen at a corner, Hansen nods it down and Sergio Romero makes a terrific one-handed stop.

Hansen should have scored though! A lot has been made of Midtjylland's set-piece prowess and they look potent!

  12. CLOSE!published at 8 mins

    FC Midtjylland 0-0 Man Utd

First attack of real note as Jesse Lingard plays a delightful through ball to find Memphis Depay on the left of the area. It is a touch strong though and the Dutchman has to stretch to get a shot away, well blocked by Kian Hansen. Juan Mata then flicks on a near-post corner and Mikkel Andersen makes the low save.

Bizzare stuff as Chris Smalling goes off to change his boots and the referee doesn't let him come back on for ages! The ref looked at him twice, maybe three times, and still wouldn't let him on. He's back on now but captain Michael Carrick is steaming about that.

  14. Postpublished at 4 mins

    FC Midtjylland 0-0 Man Utd

Midtylland full-back Kian Hansen has a throw-in that Rory Delap would be proud of and it's an absolute weapon. He hurls one like a trebuchet and United just about clear their lines. Interesting.

Say what you like about 'direct' football, but it's not boring. MIXER!

Memphis Depay sprints away down the left as United counter from a throw-in at their end. Pace, pace, pace. It comes to noting though.

The players are out in Herning now, they look very cold indeed. The Danes haven't played for more than two months, will they be rusty or fresh as daisies?

    All set...

The mind boggles at just what sort of hospitality you got for that money Chris. I paid less in Vegas...

Off topic slightly but one of the cheapest tickets bought was 12 quid face value for the 1999 Champions League final between Man Utd and Bayern in the Nou Camp. Sensible pricing!

    Paul Brookes

Bradford ran out of away tickets at Chelsea last season. Bought the only available tickets- hospitality at £500 each. Worth every penny (especially as the folks paid!)

A very odd injury that for David de Gea, I've just seen a clip and he basically made a routine save in the warm-up. Looks like an ankle problem.
