    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

Chances galore now in Rome, it's been a brilliant last 30 minutes. Mo Salah is in on goal, except his first touch is not sticky enough to tame the ball and it gets away from him. Roma ready Francesco Totti.

    Sven Kums (80 mins)

Is this a lifeline for Gent? A wonderful goal from their captain Sven Kums, who gets the ball on the left of the area, works his way in and then squeezes a shot away under pressure. Somehow he finds the gap and it's in at the far post.

  3. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

Now then! Big shout for a penalty for Roma as captain Alessandro Florenzi gallops on to Edin Dzeko's cutback, he takes a touch and is clattered by Dani Carvajal. The ball had gone away from him - but Carvajal was nowhere near the ball...

    Nothing given!

    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has come to life since that goal, he is free again and heads wide. He could have had a hat-trick tonight.

And that's a great chance! Edin Dzeko is onside and on his left foot, he clatters a shot into the side netting with only Keylor Navas to beat...

  8. European football showpublished at 21:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Italian football expert Mina Rzouki: "I still think there was a part of Roma who believed they could do something special at home, they have Luciano Spalletti in their ranks and they had won their last four matches. Spallettii knows how to get the best out of the players, he knows how to change formation. They thought that would give them the edge against a novice in Zidane.

"He also had the history in beating Real twice in 2008. They have a talented squad they have just not performed to expectation."

  9. CLOSE!published at 21:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

Roma are having a right go! As veterans and legends Daniele de Rossi and Francesco Totti get very excited on the bench, Edin Dzeko holds it up and tees up William Vainqueur who flashes a shot wide from 20 yards. Inches wide!

And then straight from the restart it should be game over. Cristiano Ronaldo evades capture at the far post and heads wide. BIG CHANCE.

    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

Mo Salah has got some serious pace down the right for Roma. He brushes off Marcelo and Sergio Ramos, looks up and flashes in a low cross but Raphael Varane slides in to hook it away from in front of the waiting Edin Dzeko. That was great defending!

    Gent 0-3 Wolfsburg

If Gent can find one goal between now and full time they will at least raise morale ahead of the trip to Germany. Mind you, they will still need to score three away goals...

  12. Postpublished at 21:10 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

That away goal has sucked the jam out of the Roma doughnut. They know they're really up against it now and have sent on former Manchester City man Edin Dzeko as a result. Just over 20 minutes left.

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Gent 0-3 Wolfsburg

This could get embarrassing if Gent aren't careful - Max Kruse is inside the area with work to do but bends a left-footed shot delightfully across goal and against the far post.

Chris Glover: That is how you answer your critics on not scoring goals away from home, superb goal by Ronaldo.

BHWardak SDMN★[BLUE]: What was the fuss about a lack of away goals by Ronaldo?

Andrew Priestley: That'll shut up the haters. Good man yourself Cristiano!

A good build-from-the-back move by Real Madrid, who have had to be patient in this game. Will the shackles come off now?

  17. goal

GOAL - Gent 0-3 Wolfsburgpublished at 21:03 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Max Kruse (60 mins)

Another goal which has an element of luck but the base chemistry is good, solid play. Wolfsburg look very slick in attack tonight and they work it well to spring Christian Trasch on the right. He flashes in an early cross, striker Max Kruse gets ahead of the defence and it rather hits him, and goes in.

    Roma 0-1 Real Madrid

That goal should shush the journalist questioning Cristiano Ronaldo's lack of goals away from home. He's in again moments later and tries to cut a ball back but a Roman head gets there first.

GOAL - Roma 0-1 Real Madridpublished at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Cristiano Ronaldo (57 mins)

Real missing Gareth Bale? Not when they've got Cristiano Ronaldo! In truth he's been quiet tonight and pretty isolated wide on the left but he sparks this game into life with his 89th Champions League goal.

Marcelo finds him down the line, he's just onside, he comes inside the full back with that trademarked back heel, and then hits a right-footed shot from just outside the box which takes a nick off Roma skipper Alessandro Florenzi and floats over the head of Wojciech Szczesny and in. A bit lucky, a lot of class.
