    Julian Draxler (54 mins)

Class in a glass! Julian Draxler has his second, wonderful finish and he may have already put Wolfsburg into the quarters. It's a horrowshow defensively, too much football in the wrong areas and a stray pass across their own back four is read by Draxler. He is able to toe it past the last defender and then, with the keeper coming out, Draxler just lifts it over him and into the net. Delicious.

    Gent 0-1 Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg look on the edge of grabbing a second at any time now. Andre Schurrle fires away down the right but his hesitation is final, he takes a touch too much and the chance is gone. Can Gent find a way through?

    Roma 0-0 Real Madrid

Action hero Radja Nainggolan charges forwards for Roma, he doesn't have a lot on, the crowd urge him to shoot so he does. Right into the small of the back of a Real defender. That will leave a mark! Ouch.

Real then break and Cristiano Ronaldo fizzes a wonderful pass to James Rodriguez, who gets a boot to the face.

    Roma 0-0 Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane looked in tense and angry mood as the players came back out on to the Stadio Olimpico pitch. A rocket for Real?

    Gent 0-1 Wolfsburg

A huddle in the tunnel from the hosts, one away goal down already. They can't afford to ship any more in the following 45 minutes...

Wolfsburg now have former Chelsea man Andre Schurrle on.

Mo Salah has threatened a number of times on the counter, getting away down the right, and while each run he has embarked on has shown promise, he's ended up losing the ball at the end.

The red triangles in the graphic above shows that he has had five dribbles with the ball, and ultimately been unsuccessful in creating a chance or having a shot on each occasion.

The second crunching tackle of the night from the Real Madrid backline. This time it's Raphael Varane who gets across to smash into Stephan El Shaarawy as the forward was pulling the trigger. The force in that tackle would have put me out of the game forever.

Lovina Ironkwa: Watching Salah play, I wonder why Mourinho never gave him a chance with all his talents.

Paul Moore:Looks like Roma have reduced their pitch dimensions to Subbuteo size. Squeezed.

GOAL - Gent 0-1 Wolfsburgpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Julian Draxler (44 mins)

Smart side-parting, smart finish as Julian Draxler strokes Wolfsburg into a deserved lead. He starts the move on halfway, foxing his fullback with a cunning turn to the outside. He runs on, exchanges a one-two with Vieirinha and then gives the keeper the eyes, sits him down and passes into the far corner. Clinical. Like the Eden Hazard of old...

    Gent 0-0 Wolfsburg

Gent have worked their way back into the match and as the average positions for the two teams shows, the hosts (left) have been more attack-minded. Neither team, though, has enough quality in the final third to trouble the defences.

    Roma 0-0 Real Madrid

Space and pace for Real Madrid down the right, Dani Carvajal tears off and then gets his head up. Finds Karim Benzema just inside the area, he has Cristiano Ronaldo a step to his left and tees him up, but it's a clumsy pass. Wasn't laid of into the arc and Ronaldo has to readjust, and as a result his left-footed shot is easily blocked.

  17. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Gent 0-0 Wolfsburg

Gent, on a rare attack, want a spot kick as dangerman Laurent Depoitre spreads his legs and runs at Dante. The big Brazilian just stands his ground and the two collide - nothing doing, and it was outside the area too.

    Roma 0-0 Real Madrid

Sergio Ramos with an internal-organ shaker of a challenge, brilliantly timed and clean as you like. I don't think he was ever particularly close to joining Manchester United last summer but he's always been a player I could see bossing the Premier League for somebody. Maybe one day.

    Roma 0-0 Real Madrid

    Roma Real MadridImage source, Opta

The average position map for the two teams shows that Real Madrid are playing much more advanced on the pitch compared to Roma, who appear happy to let the visitors have more of the ball and then attack on the counter.

Karim Benzema (9) is the player furthest forward for Real Madrid, but is perhaps finding himself a little isolated, and outnumbered, towards the left side of the Roma box.

For Roma, Mohamed Salah (11) has been the Italian side's best player.

  20. CLOSE!published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2016

    Roma 0-0 Real Madrid

That's a good effort! Real keep the ball for an extended spell and it ends with left-back Marcelo arcing a looping strike narrowly wide from the edge of the area.
