    England 1-1 Russia

England goalkeeper Joe Hart told ITV: "It was good performance but a good performance is a win in tournament football.

"Fair play to Russia they stayed in it. We’ve defended the corner but they’ve thrown players into the box. The player who scored had springs in his heels.

"It’s not hard to take the positives. We’re going to build on it. We’re going to have to draw on them.

"A shout out to the supporters, we really felt the love."

There were thousands of English fans who were being made to run, almost for their lives there. We don't know who was in there; there could be kids and women?

Now they have to go off out into the Marseille night.

Rob Meech: Teams score late goals. It happens. We played well, move on to the next one and go again.

Howard Standring: Got to make changes up front for Wales game. If we play like that again but with more sharpness up front we will win.

Glen Naylor: So much of that game was positive. The fact we feel gutted about a draw speaks volumes. Hope we can build on this next game.

  8. 'We've got to put this behind us'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 11 June 2016

    England 1-1 Russia

England goalscorer Eric Dier told ITV: "We're disappointed because we played well the whole game. To give away the draw is disappointing.

"It's not down to inexperience, we just didn't see it out in right way. But we didn't lose. We've got to pick ourselves up again. We can take positives.

"The level was extremely high - the best I've been involved in with England. I thought we did everything right. It had it all from us apart from controlling it at the end.

When the dust settles on this game, England can take plenty of positives. They opened Russia up plenty of times, Dele Alli looked a threat (although he did fade), as we're the advanced full-backs and Wayne Rooney was impressive in midfield.

But they should have taken chances before Dier scored and Russia's goal was one that should have been dealt with.

In short, they should have won that game.

What annoys me is that we know where the tickets are sold. Where is the segregation tonight? As soon as the final whistle goes the Russian fans were allowed to run across the stands and the England fans had to run away.

Absolute shocking scenes, there was not enough segregation by the police or stewards.

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at the Stade Velodrome

"As Russia celebrate that late, late equaliser there are some very disturbing scenes behind the goal that was occupied by Joe Hart. Segregation was at best flimsy and Russian fans appeared to rush across in the direction of England's fans, who have now cleared the area. A very bad end to the night."

Devastating and draining for England. It is a draw that will feel like a defeat. England had the game won, but Berezutski's late header has denied them.

Aaaand we're back. That familiar big tournament feeling.

There was no pressure on the ball, but I have to say that Vasili Berezutski hung so well in the air. Joe Hart could do nothing about it and it's very cruel on England.

Would you believe it?! England seemingly had this game won, but they have conceded right at the death. The ball is swung in to the box and met by Vasili Berezutski, whose header loops over Joe Hart and into the net. Russia have rescued themselves.

England are a minute plus added time from a really promising victory. They haven't blown Russia away but they have been solid and, at times, incisive in their build-up play.
