  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Belgium 0-1 Italy

Romelu Lukaku has the ball delivered to his feet just inside the Italy area. He can't stay upright and falls flat on his behind. That's the story of his night.

It's Lukaku's last action. Moments later he is replaced by Liverpool's 21-year-old forward Divock Origi.

Turn away now. Graziano Pelle is having his finger slotted back in after he appears to have dislocated it. It's painful to watch, never mind the agony etched all over the Southampton player's face.

Not so cagey now this game.

Belgium are enjoying their best spell. Time is running out and they need a goal. The message appears to have sunk in.

A little bit of sloppyness creeping into Italy's game. Giorgio Chiellini is rightly booked for lunging at Eden Hazard in full flight.

    Belgium 0-1 Italy

    Both teams have made changes.

Italy are first to switch things around with Manchester United's Matteo Darmian, who has had a solid game, replaced by Mattia de Sciglio.

Moments later Belgium make their first change. The disappointing Radja Nainggolan can have few complaints as he walks off to be replaced by Dries Mertens.

Noman Mirza: Never scene such an attacking game by the Italians

Jack: Belgium are surprisingly lacking in the final third although that could be a compliment to the Italian defence

Greg Matthews: Lukaku just cannot control a football. He has to have the worst first touch for any so called "top level" striker around.

    Belgium 0-1 Italy

There's been more goalmouth action in the first 15 minutes of this half than in the opening 45.

Before Romelu Lukaku's woeful attempt, Italy looked set to go 2-0 up when Antonio Candreva found himself unmarked inside the area before Jan Vertonghen's goal-saving sliding challenge.

Vertonghen responded by berating his team-mates for allowing Candreva so much space.

It had to be a goal.

It was a brilliant break. De Bruyne knew exactly what he wanted to do.

Buffon narrowed the angle and Lukaku just can't keep it on target.

He's fluffed his lines; great ball by Kevin de Bruyne but Romelu Lukaku's touch took him away from goal and he should be hitting the back of the net.

    Belgium 0-1 Italy

    End to end now.

Another clear cut chance - this time to Italy.

Graziano Pelle gets a chance to make up for his earlier poor miss but is frustrated by Thibaut Courtois' flying save to keep out his powerful header.

    Deary me.

Romelu Lukaku is clean through and looks certain to score after Kevin de Bruyne's lovely pass but the Everton man's composure deserts him and it's a horrible miss.

I am not sure Marouane Fellaini in the hole is working. He is too rigid, his movement isn't good enough.

Is this going to be another tournament to forget for Belgium?

They need to find some spark. There's little energy about their play and too many key players are having a poor game.

  16. 'We call Bonucci the Italian Beckenbauer'published at 21:05 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    Gianluca Vialli
Former Italy striker on BBC One

We have been very good, because we know what to do when we have the ball. We have players short and long. Leonardo Bonucci sees a great pass for the goal. We call him the Italian Franz Beckenbauer and what a touch and finish from Emanuele Giaccherini.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Belgium 0-1 Italy

Antonio Conte appeared to hurt himself as the Italy bench celebrated Emanuele Giaccherini's goal. Television cameras spotted him wiping away what looked like blood from around his nose with a tissue.

The good news is Conte looks fine as the second half get under way.

  19. 'Italy a better unit'published at 20:59 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    Belgium 0-1 Italy

    Gianluca Vialli
Former Italy striker on BBC One

So far Italy have been excellent, and I hope that we can maintain the same intensity for the second half. We have seen a bunch of very talented individuals with Belgium, and less talented individuals but a better unit from Italy.

  20. 'Kevin de Bruyne looks unhappy'published at 20:57 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    Belgium 0-1 Italy

    Jermaine Jenas

I am not surprised this Italian side has turned up at a major tournament again. They look fit, organised and always dangerous.

It just doesn't seem to come together for Belgium. Kevin de Bruyne doesn't look happy, Eden Hazard looks dangerous but is trying to do it on his own.

When you watch the Italians they seem in control and they are covering so much of the pitch that they can press and break on the attack. They could be 3-0 up.
