He should have scored that really.

    See you then!

  4. 'I'm not frightened of anybody'published at 22:26 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Slovakia 0-0 England

More from Roy Hodgson: "If we had won the game people would say we didn’t miss them [the players who were left out] and when we don’t they say the team selection is wrong, I am used to that one.

"We brought players on which was useful. It kept up our domination but I am not certain it would have made a vast difference because we would still playing against 11 players in defence.

"Finishing second is a disappointment but we are still in the last 16 and who is to say the team we will play will be that much stronger?

"You just don’t know, the way we are playing I am not frightened of anybody."

  5. 'We will make someone pay'published at 22:23 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Slovakia 0-0 England

England manager Roy Hodgson talking to ITV: "It is like that (frustrating) when you dominate three games and only manage to win one.

"The fans were magnificent and it is disappointing for us not to be able to give them a win.

"We can't do much more, we dominated the game from start to finish, we had so many chances and one day we will put them away, I can't fault the effort and work of the players.

"It is a little bit embarrassing, it has been attack v defence in all three games and I never thought I'd see England dominate three games like we have done.

"Soon we will make someone pay, we will score goals one day."

  6. 'Too many excuses'published at 22:21 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Slovakia 0-0 England

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

There are too many excuses from the England point of view. You have got to score to win games and they haven’t done it.

Roy Hodgson got it wrong. They played Slovakia and they can't break Slovakia down – too many excuses.

  7. ''When did England last dominate?'published at 22:20 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Slovakia 0-0 England

England manager Roy Hodgson: "They did fine, you can't do more than dominate as we did. To be frank we put pressure on from the first minute.

"We were creating chances but we didn't take them. It is a very frustrating 0-0, particularly for the fans. But I believe if we keep working like we are teams will come at us and we will be even more dangerous.

"People were trying to tell me that I should have changed Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane. It was four changes from the side which finished the Wales game. If people are going to pick on one player that's a pity, Jack Wilshere did fine.

"You can't have it all ways. We have players who can do the job.

"When did England last come to a tournament and have three such dominant games in a row? We have taken the game to the opposition, we have controlled the play.

"We practice penalties all the time. But Ronaldo missed one so ours could too. They will try hard not to. But sooner or later we will get the reward for our play. Someone might find themselves on the end of a tough result."

The last three evening games have highlighted the problem with this format. Teams like Slovakia were too happy to sit back, show no ambition and hope for Third place. This tournament will only really gather place once the quarterfinals start. Till then, we can expect more of '10 men behind the ball'.

  9. 'England have no width'published at 22:13 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Chris Waddle
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

I would have started Wayne Rooney. Unfortunately for Jack Wilshere he was off the pace and couldn’t get his passing going. He lost the ball cheaply.

England have got no width. James Milner would give you width, he can do a trick and put a cross in.

It’s easy now to say, but when you look at it they knew all three games people were going to sit deep and frustrate England.

  10. 'Nobody will want to play us'published at 22:13 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

England goalkeeper Joe Hart: "We all wanted to finish top but we didn't. We have dominated every corner of the pitch and every Slovakian player will be proud of that result.

"We are into the next round and nobody will want to play us. I haven't had anything to do in the whole tournament to be honest, we have been playing very well as a team.

"There is good chances being made, I couldn't criticise anyone. Some heroic defending against us, it is frustrating but we are through.

"We are more than happy with our squad and all 23 are thoroughly deserving to play."

  11. 'We remain positive'published at 22:11 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

England defender Ryan Bertrand: "We have great strength in depth, that's tournament football for you. It is a defensive tournament, there have been a lot of late goals. Hopefully the knockout stage will complement our style.

"We remain positive. We are very confident and can't wait to get going again. We will be paying close attention over the next few days to see who we will play."

  12. 'We dominated the game'published at 22:08 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Slovakia 0-0 England

England defender Gary Cahill: "It's all about recovery, we have a week to do that which is a positive. We can wait and see who we will be playing and approach it the same way.

"It's tough to play at this intensity, the manager felt confident in the squad and the players too though. You can't say that we didn't play well, we absolutely dominated the game."

Lauren: a little part of me thinks England don't mind finishing second could end up an easier team #portugaltogetknockedoutingroupstage, external

David Boyd: We will benefit from playing a team that doesn't play 10 behind the ball. We will score against better sides

Jon Evans: No cutting edge, no movement. Pretty poor despite dominating. Finishing second in that group is rather shameful.

  14. 'We couldn't unlock the door'published at 22:02 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Slovakia 0-0 England

England defender Gary Cahill speaking to ITV: "It was disappointing for us tonight. In the three games we have had the majority of the possession and today we have dominated play from start to finish and we couldn’t unlock door. It is disappointing for us.

"The rhythm was there, we had ball constantly but just didn’t have the cutting edge to open them up.

"It needed something special in games like that and we nearly did but it just wasn’t to be.

"We are disappointed, with the amount of possession we had we should have won the game.

"There is no point harking on about the first game. We have to move on, we are second in the group and have a huge game coming up.

"It gives us time to get back fresh. We tried to bring fresh legs in tonight and I thought we looked good and on another day we should win."

So here it is. The final Group B table.

    Wales = Group B winners.

That means Chris Coleman's men will play a third-place team from either Group A (Albania), Group D (unconfirmed, but one from Czech Republic, Croatia or Turkey) or Group C (unconfirmed, but one from Germany, Poland or Northern Ireland).

That depends on the combination of the four groups which provide the third-placed sides.

What Wales do know is they will play in Paris on Saturday (17:00 BST)

    England = Group B runners-up.

They will play the Group F runners-up - either Hungary, Iceland, Portugal or Austria.

That game will be on Monday (20:00 BST) in Nice.
