  1. 'Positive start for Northern Ireland'published at 17:04 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Germany

    Gerry Taggart
Former Northern Ireland captain on BBC Radio 5 live

Positive start. Straight away Northern Ireland putting the ball deep into Germany's half, pressuring the ball and not letting them settle.

You can see the way the Germans are going to try and create space in the middle and final third. They are trying to make the space for both full-backs to get high up the pitch.

They are going to try and work the space, try and grind Northern Ireland down.

  2. CLOSE!published at 4 mins

    Ukraine 0-0 Poland

Ukraine have already gone out and will finish bottom of Group C and have started exactly like a team bereft of confidence.

Right-back Artem Fedetskiy goes missing allowing Arkadius Milik to run through and his effort is straight at goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov.

Seconds later, striker Robert Lewandowski beats the offside trap but his first-time shot from around eight yards out goes over the bar.

    A blistering start from Poland.

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Germany

    Gerry Taggart
Former Northern Ireland captain on BBC Radio 5 live

What you have got to remember is Germany are the world champions and in the top two or three best tournament teams ever.

We know we are under no illusions that this will be a mammoth task to get any result. But we have to take the positives when they're there and look at the Germans, and they're not firing on all cylinders.

The 11 players in green and white shirts will have belief they can get something.

  12. 'Germany will pin us back'published at 16:53

Northern Ireland v Germany (17:00 BST)

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill speaks to BBC Sport: "The Germans will pin us back, they do it to most teams they play against. But we have to set our team up to be difficult to beat and carry an attacking threat. Hopefully that will be enough to get us through to the next stage.

"It's massive. We could have come and just enjoyed the tournament but we didn't want to do that and have given ourselves a chance of getting to the last 16 which is a massive achievement for a country of our size."

  13. 'A massive effort'published at 16:50

Northern Ireland v Germany (17:00 BST)

Injured Northern Ireland midfielder Chris Brunt on BBC One: "The lads are all looking forward to it. They have had a day extra to recover and hopefully that will help. They put a massive effort in against Ukraine.

"We are under no illusions, it will be a very tough game. Our back five will have to have more of the same."

This is the biggest test of them all. The whole country will be tuning in to this, but half of them are in Paris. We need Germany to have a bit of an off day to get something.

Germany have been a little bit disappointing because we were used to the team that won the World Cup.

It was 24 months ago. We have taken a long breather after that and now we are expecting something.

Northern Ireland v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer
    Ex-England captain on BBC One

It's a miracle that Northern Ireland are here, that was the first ambition. The other ambition was to have an opportunity in the last game of the group and they have done that.

They need seven or eight players to put in a 10/10 performance. But they are in with a shout.

Will Michael O'Neill celebrate a goal against Germany by embarking on another embarrassing uncle dance?

The Northern Ireland boss sparked plenty of comment after marking Niall McGinn's stoppage-time goal against Ukraine - mid-air in the rain - with a leap and a jig of delight.

And why not? It captured the emotion of Northern Ireland's first Euro 2016 win.

"I've had all the ususal stick. People sending me the picture with all the usual lines underneath," said O'Neill.

What Northern Ireland fans would give to see it again in the Parc des Princes.
