  1. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    Ukraine 0-0 Poland

Oh no, no, Ukraine should have had a couple by now.

This time Yevhen Konoplyanka whips a juicy inswinging cross into the box, which is crying out to be gobbled up, but youngster Olexandr Zinchenko mis-times his jump and heads wide of goals when free inside the box.

Roman Zozulya tearing his hair out, what he has left of it.

  2. 'Hang in'published at 18:06 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

    Neil Lennon
Hibernian manager in Marseille for BBC One

We have all been there and played against top sides, the Barcelonas for example. Your mind gets scrambled.

We could have predicted this is the way the game would go. What we have to do is just hang in there.

  3. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

Low-key start to the second half in contrast to the first period when Germany peppered Northern Ireland's goal from the very first minute.

Still Northern Ireland's fans sing as though they are winning.

  4. Keep it tightpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

If Northern Ireland can keep the scores as they are, or maybe concede just one more, then they will still be in with a good chance of qualifying.

If the Czech Republic fail to win later this evening then Northern Ireland could be through whatever - unless they take a hammering in this next 45 minutes...

  5. 'Washington feeding on scraps'published at 18:03 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

    Gerry Taggart
Former Northern Ireland captain on BBC Radio 5 live

You have got to give the boys who started a little bit of a chance. They have created a couple of chances that they haven't taken advantage of.

I'm not really sure where Michael O'Neill can make the change, apart from up front. Conor Washington has been feeding on scraps.

    Ukraine 0-0 Poland

A arrival of Jakub Blaszczykowski for Poland spells bad, bad news for a text commentator.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    A sub for Poland.

The experienced Jakub Blaszczykowski comes on.

    Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski off.

Thomas Muller is deep in conversation with Joshua Kimmich in the tunnel. Young Kimmich has been excellent for Germany and his cross and passes have caused the Northern Ireland defence countless problems.

    Ukraine 0-0 Poland

Andriy Shevchenko is out of the tunnel and waves to the crowd. Is he coming on??

Nope, the former Ukraine striker makes his way to the dugout.

The men in yellow shirts, shorts and socks were out on the pitch a few minutes earlier than Poland.

  12. 'Absolutely shattered'published at 17:59 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

    Alan Shearer
    Ex-England captain on BBC One

The movement and passing and pace and speed of the passing got Germany in for the goal.

Northern Ireland must be absolutely shattered, they have been chasing shadows, so when they do get in the final third it's hard for them.

  13. 'Tough to watch'published at 17:58 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

Northern Ireland international Chris Brunt on BBC One: "It was tough to watch. We have defended superbly, throwing bodies in the way and Michael McGovern has been unbelievable. We are still in it, it's only one and hopefully we can create a little more ourselves."

James Stevenson: Have Germany finally arrived or are Northern Ireland just an average side? Not sure on either.

Joe D: There's no point sugar coating it - Northern Ireland have been poor. Only 1 shot at goal and 25% possession.

Teddy McGinty: A decent game of football at last , this seems a rarity in this tournament.

  15. Under pressurepublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

Fourteen shots by Germany in the first 45 minutes. That works out roughly at around one every three or so minutes. Michael McGovern is single-handedly doing his bit to keep Northern Ireland in Euro 2016.

    Ukraine 0-0 Poland

Ukraine have now gone 434 European Championship minutes without scoring.

Their last goal came against Sweden in 2012, with striker Andriy Shevchenko netting on that occasion.

He's on the Ukraine bench nowadays as part of the coaching staff, has he brought his boots? Might get a game at this rate.

  17. A lessonpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

    Neil Lennon
Hibernian manager in Marseille for BBC One

We did say before the game we needed to be at our best and Germany needed to have an off day. That's not been the case.

We have four Premier League players, the rest will have learned more today than on any other day in their career.

  18. Hit the big manpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

Only Jürgen Klinsmann (five) has scored more goals for Germany at the Euros than Mario Gomez (four).

This is Gomez's first start in a competitive game for 1454 days. In from the cold, in with the goals...
