  1. Farewellpublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

As it stands, Northern Ireland are still in Euro 2016. But they face an anxious wait to find out if their first involvement in a major tournament for 30 years is to be extended. Many thanks for your company. Don't forget we have live text commentary of Croatia against Spain and Czech Republic against Turkey from Group D now.

Jack Traynor: After first hand experience I can easily say that Northern Ireland have been the best fans of the Euros.

Wiggi:Fantastic performance from Northern Ireland. They and their fans are on fire-  hope they have done enough because they deserve to carry on.

There were question marks over whether Michael McGovern would start with the form of Roy Carroll.

He's been exceptional and I'm wondering if one of the reasons he hasn't signed a contract in Scotland is because he is looking for a move. He would easily come down across the border into England and do well.

It could have easily been five or six today and that could have sent us home.

Their team has lost. They don't know if they are still in Euro 2016 but Northern Ireland's fans have turned the Parc des Princes into a Belfast nightclub. "Freed from Desire" playing on a loop.

The Germany fans still in Parc des Princes are applauding their Northern Ireland counterparts, who are still going strong more than 20 minutes after the final whistle and singing, amongst other things, "we're not going home".

    They might be right.

The men in green literally do not stop, something I can personally testify as a few hundred of them were having a party outside my hotel window in Paris until past 3am last night.

  7. 'Format creating interest'published at 19:12 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

There is interest developed everywhere because of this format.

They might not always be great games, but there is interest as even today Michael McGovern has kept Northern Ireland in it because he's kept the goals down.

  8. Best 1-0 defeat ever?published at 19:08 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

It could be the best 1-0 defeat ever. When I say defeat, they've absolutely been blown away.

I'm very hopeful. But if anyone was doubting the class of the Germans then what we've seen tonight is an absolute masterclass.

Michael McGovern has kept us in the mix as it could have been six or seven.

Northern Ireland's fans have not moved an inch. They are still bouncing up and down and singing 'Will Grigg's On Fire' - the whole of the western side of Paris must be able to hear them!

Shaun Farrelly: The confusing moment where #NIR, external have to wait 28 hours to find out whether they've qualified for the knockout stages.

James Foster: If the MOTM isn't Michael McGovern then I'll be extremely surprised.

James Clarke: Farcical format bites again: anti-climax as NI don't know if they're through. At least they don't have to wait three days like Albania!

  11. 'Germany were excellent'published at 18:59 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern: "If it is not meant to be for us to go through, we will be very disappointed.

"It was busy today and mentally very hard. We knew every goal was crucial so wanted to keep keep it at one and maybe nick a goal of our own.

"Germany had a slow start but they were excellent today, we could not get out."

  12. Can McGovern speak German?published at 18:57 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

Jens Lehmann, a guest on Match of the Day Live, has just asked if Michael McGovern can speak German as he wants to recommend the keeper to some clubs.

The keeper is a free agent. He has certainly put himself in the shop window with his performance against the world champions.

That result means that Slovakia are guaranteed to make the last 16.

So, Northern Ireland will have to wait and see if they go through. It could have been a cricket score. Instead it's a highly creditable result on paper.

A nice moment for 37-year-old midfielder Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, who comes on for his 143rd Ukraine cap, almost certainly his last at a major tournament.

Roman Zozulya and his hair go off.

Poland send on Filip Starzynski for Arkadiusz Milik too.

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski still hasn't managed to find the back of the net. Not good for those who have him in their Euro Fantasy Football teams.

I don't. I've got Cristiano Ronaldo, who hasn't fared much better.
