Dan, a depressed Chelsea fan from Formby: Along with the fax machine, apparently common sense died last week when our board allowed John Terry to leave the club. A minute's silence will be held at 12 noon. Seriously, I've lit a candle and everything.

"Watford had a £3m bid for Jerome Sinclair turned down by Liverpool over the weekend.

"Sinclair, 18, has made two FA Cup appearances for the Reds this season.

"He scored his first senior goal in the third round at Exeter and was introduced as a late substitute in Saturday's goalless draw with West Ham.

"Sinclair does not intend to sign a new contract when his present deal expires at the end of the season and if nothing can be sorted today, he is likely to join Watford in the summer."

  4. Forest look to move Ebicilio onpublished at 11:52 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2016

    BBC Radio Nottingham

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Dutch midfielder Kyle Ebicilio is still on loan at the club, and has not returned to parent club FC Twente. Forest had thought there was a clause in his loan deal that allowed them to end the spell in January, but that’s not the case.

BBC Radio Nottingham’s Forest correspondent Colin Fray says: “I understand that the Reds are seeking another club to take on the remainder of Ebicilio’s loan. They’re keen to move him on, so that manager Dougie Freedman can add to his squad on deadline day. If Ebicilio stays, that will make a new signing today less likely, due to the restriction on the number of players allowed in the squad under the terms of the FFP embargo.”

So we know Leicester are keen on adding some firepower, according to former Foxes skipper Matt Elliott (see 09:27), but what about their Premier League title rivals?

(Leicester and title rivals...now we didn't expect to write those in the same sentence back on the last transfer deadline day.)

"There is no real movement expected from Arsenal or Manchester City – and I can see why," Elliott tells BBC Sport.

"For me they already have tremendous depth and array of talent covering all positions.

"At this stage of the season, there are very few top-class performers available and that’s what it would take to improve Arsenal or City. I don’t think there is any need for them to act.”

CSKA Moscow to Newcastle on loan

    Alex Stewart
    Football Manager computer game expert

"Doumbia has all the right attributes to get goals, with high stats for finishing, off the ball movement, and technique. He also scores highly in his determination and work rate, which makes him a good bet for leading the line as a single striker.

"He generally fails to ignite in FM, though, scoring fewer than 10 goals per season, so possibly needs the right manager to get the best from him."

We have asked Football Manager expert Alex Stewart - a man who is no stranger to snaffling bargains and spotting potential, all from the comfort of his own laptop on the popular computer game - to offer an alternative perspective on the transfer market.

"As expected it has been a very quiet transfer window for City. A few might go out on loan on transfer deadline day but I don't expect anything coming in to be honest.

"The loss of Kevin de Bruyne may have given Manuel Pellegrini something to think about but the reality is we still have (in my opinion) the best squad in the Premier League.

"There was a stat out at the weekend that suggested Manchester City are the first English club ever to be in contention for all four major trophies going into February (League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League) so that tells you everything about our squad."
