"Both Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele are staying put at Fulham, who have no desire to sell.

"McCormack linked with Middlesbrough and Spurs with Dembele, he is out of contract at the end of the season."

Everyone loves a deadline day twist, and we may well have one.

Jordan Rhodes' move from Blackburn to Middlesbrough looked dead in the water this morning, but we are hearing from one of our reporters that 'lines of communication are back open'.

    Interesting...

"Suddenly after years of inactivity Newcastle United has erupted like Mount Vesuvius this transfer window.

"West Brom's Saido Berahino has been the subject of a concrete bid. Would be very happy with him or Chelsea's Loic Remy (who looks set for Leicester).

"All other links seem to smack of desperation. Happy in other departments, just need someone who can score goals."

    Newcastle United

Potentially a good signing for Newcastle that one.

Seydou Doumbia is a powerful striker and, although he only managed two goals for Roma, he has banged them in for fun in the past.

He got 66 league goals in two spells at CSKA Moscow and 50 in an impressive 64 games for Swiss Super League side BSC Young Boys.

The ability is there, can Steve McCLaren get the best out of him?

Call off the minute's silence - the fax machine is alive and well!

Ok, ok, it may not actually be used for transfer paperwork anymore but the trusty, if a bit bulky, communication device still present in football clubs - National League Cheltenham Town have proof...

    Fax Machine

Some sad news is reaching us.

The fax machine is no more. At the grand, old age of 128 it has packed in. The plug has been pulled.

Clubs up and down the country tells us that the fax machine has been on life support for a few years now - and all business is done by via that young whipper snapper, electronic mail.

A minute's silence will be held for a national institution at 12noon*.

  10. 'Counterproductive for WBA to keep Berahino'published at 11:06 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2016

Will he? Won’t he? The Saido Berahino saga is the gift that keeps giving on transfer deadline day.

And we’ve been grilling former Leicester skipper Matt Elliott at BBC Sport Towers this morning about the West Brom striker’s future, as well as all the rest of the day’s talking points.

“West Brom seem, outwardly at least, happy to bite the bullet and keep him at the club,” says the former Scotland international.

“They could wait and get some money further down the line, even if he is out of contract, because of his age.

“But I think it would be counterproductive to keep him if he doesn’t want to be there then the situation drags on and doesn’t benefit anyone.

“You would imagine that if that sort of money is being offered then he’ll be on his way.”

Transfer deadline day: What football fans do as clubs splash the cash

We've seen plenty of excellent photos of fans throughout the world following this live text, but ever wondered what some of the more crazy things those waiting for deals to happen get up to? Then wonder no more, because the video above reveals all.

Despite the lack of big signings so far today, a record has been broken with the £130m worth of deals done in this transfer window so far taking the total spending this season for Premier League clubs to £1bn, a new record.

Want to know what deals could be done in the next few hours? Then read chief football writer Phil McNulty's piece on 10 deals that may happen.

Meanwhile, Chelsea captain John Terry says he is not being offered a new contract but a club spokesman insists he could still stay. Phil has also had his say on the matter, looking into why the Blues captain has decided to leave the Blues.

Finally, there may not have been many shocks, but there were still some great goals in the FA Cup fourth round. Watch them all here.

Remember, the transfer window closes in 12 hours in England, with Scotland getting one eatra hour to push through deals.

  13. 'No more needed at West Ham'published at 10:53 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2016

    West Ham United
    David Blackmore, Editor Blowing Bubbles

I'm not anticipating West Ham to be making any major deadline day deals now that Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike has signed on loan.

I don't think we urgently need any more signings either, although following Carl Jenkinson's season-ending injury another right back who is more experienced than January signing Sam Byram - and better than Joey O'Brien - would be very welcome.

When all our injured players are back, we'll have a squad capable of pushing on to the end of the season. In many ways, players like Enner Valencia, who came back after quite a while on the sidelines, felt like a new signing. We've also got the likes of Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho, and Manuel Lanzini to come back into the fold - all of whom can cause plenty of damage.

West Ham appear to have concluded their transfer business with the loan signing of Emmanuel Ememike, but there could be a problem. According to former Nigeria and Wolfsburg striker Jonathan Akpoborie, Ememike's no good...

"Over the last two or three years he hasn't been in good form for his club and country. To be a striker in the top flight in England you need to have a good first touch and that has always been his problem. His ability is in question," Akpoborie said.

No punches pulled there then! You can listen to the full BBC World Service interview with Akpoborie over here.

Goals, Goals and more goals are what we needed going into the January. Andre Ayew has done really well but he needs some help scoring goals and so a new striker is No 1 priority for us at the moment. Two strikers could be an option if we decide to offload Bafe Gomis and Eder who have both struggled this year.

In order to secure our Premier League position (which is looking more likely now with 2 wins from 2) I also feel we need some additional pace and trickery on the wings and a tough tackling, hard as nails central midfielder who can play but who also has some steel about him!

  17. Baggies reject Chester movepublished at 10:47 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2016

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales

"West Brom have rejected Swansea City’s offer to sign Wales defender James Chester on loan.

"Chester, 27, has made just one Premier League start this season after joining from Hull last summer.

"The Swans’ Portuguese international striker Eder is set to join French club Lille on loan until the end of the season.

"The Portuguese striker has failed to score in 13 Premier League games since joining from Sporting Braga in the summer."
