Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini tells BBC Sport: "It was a penalty that referee Mark Clattenburg wanted to sign for and he gave the sign. It was absolutely the wrong decision, it hit the back of Raheem Sterling then his elbow. Sterling was not even seeing the ball. It was the same referee in the first game where they were two clear goals in offside and we lost 4-1.

"It was the key moment that decided thee game, before that they did not shoot towards our goal and did not have any chances. We took the risks, the spirit of the team was good but it was not enough.

"The response of the team i am very happy about. The spirit in the game was good but you win with goals. We made an important mistake in the second goal and penalty we did not deserve.

"We are going to continue fighting until the end. We still have 36 points to play for and are only six points behind the leaders. We will not give up and continue working and improving."

Mike Hunkin: The Spurs of old would have buckled and broke under pressure but no longer under Poch. Maybe we can win it after all.

On top of the previous stat, City have now lost four home games in the Premier League this season, more than they had in Manuel Pellegrini’s first two seasons combined (a total of three). 

This includes two defeats out of two games since Pellegrini announced he was leaving at the end of the season and the club revealed Pep Guardiola would be replacing him. It is not looking like the wisest of decisions right now. Although, to be fair, they have played two of the most in-form sides in the country.
