Megan Pierce: Keeping emotions to myself until the last day of the season and hoping the new spurs are here to stay

James Fairhall: Can't wait for the north London derby at the lane now

Robert Weaver: Fantastic performance by Spurs. The way I see it, we are 10 points clear of MU and that coveted 4th spot. One step at a time!

  3. 'The supporters are right to dream'published at 18:44 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2016

    Man City 1-2 Tottenham

More from Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BBC Sport: "Energy is one of the key to our game. Mentality, work, how we play, our set up is too. We have more possession than Manchester City today and speak very well about our philosophy.

"I don't like to speak abut the future, it is more important for us to keep working hard and to show we can win in this kind of stadium. We need to be ready for the Europa League next and that is important for us too.

"The supporters are right to dream, it is one of the key of the club. They show big support from the beginning of the season and I say thank you to them. It is important for our supporters to believe."

Peter, Tottenham: I've been Spurs supporter for 65 years I've seen all the great teams Gazza Hoddle Greaves Chivers Mark Falco!! This could be the best yet.

Lisa: Major faux pas from City announcing Guardiola. Team doesn't look motivated at all. Imagine if they slipped to 5th... Wonder if Pep has an opt out clause if they qualify for Europa League..?

Sam, Manchester: City can feel very hard done by, really switched on in the second half. Aguero seemed to have an off day today. In no way a fair result!

  5. 'Full credit to the players'published at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2016

    Man City 1-2 Tottenham

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino tells BBC Sport: "I think that it was a game that was very important. You could feel it was not a normal game and a real test for us, for that we feel very pleased for the players. The mentality was good and a perfect performance against a team with a lot of quality players who are top class. Full credit to my players.

"From my point of view, I did not see the penalty incident. Sometimes in football it happens, it goes for you and against you in the season.

"The player that came on - Erik Lamela - showed real impact on the game. We wanted to put more energy and quality on the pitch."

Bob: For all the hype surrounding his arrival Guardiola has got one heck of a job on his hands at City. He's in for a very rude awakening!

Abdul Said: So Pep's magic will be seen next season.

Wale ibraheem: Naming Pep in the middle of the season isn't only disrespectful to Pellegrini but also a distraction to the entire team.

  8. 'We are not going to give up'published at 18:36 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2016

    Man City 1-2 Tottenham

Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini tells Sky Sports: "Yes, disappointed because we played better than Tottenham. They did not have many chances to score until we started to take risks. Before that, it was a close game and the decisive penalty was important.

"Unfortunately for us, it was the same referee as the other game when they score two goals from offside. This was a shot that hit the back of Sterling, hit elbow slightly and he can't decide the game in that way.

We were 1-0 down and it was a decisive action. Tottenham had no shot at our goal and Joe Hart did not have a save to make. It was absolutely decisive.

"We responded well but we needed to get the three points. We are not going to give up but Leicester and Tottenham are fighting for the title. We need to keep working. The spirit of the team is very good."

"It wasn’t a great game, with two moments of quality, but at the end when Spurs needed a hero Lloris is there to deny Otamendi a free header.

"Great win, they could win the Premier League! What a season!"

  12. 'Penalty was the key moment'published at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2016

    Man City 1-2 Tottenham

Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini tells BBC Sport: "It was a penalty that referee Mark Clattenburg wanted to sign for and he gave the sign. It was absolutely the wrong decision, it hit the back of Raheem Sterling then his elbow. Sterling was not even seeing the ball. It was the same referee in the first game where they were two clear goals in offside and we lost 4-1.

"It was the key moment that decided thee game, before that they did not shoot towards our goal and did not have any chances. We took the risks, the spirit of the team was good but it was not enough.

"The response of the team i am very happy about. The spirit in the game was good but you win with goals. We made an important mistake in the second goal and penalty we did not deserve.

"We are going to continue fighting until the end. We still have 36 points to play for and are only six points behind the leaders. We will not give up and continue working and improving."

Mike Hunkin: The Spurs of old would have buckled and broke under pressure but no longer under Poch. Maybe we can win it after all.

Jonny Sardari: I'm not gonna get carried away, I'm not gonna get carried away, I'm not gonna get carried away

Johnny Magrinho: How class is that by Pochettino? Like it was a cup final victory hugging all his players. Spurs or Leicester for the title please!!

  14. No home comfort for Citypublished at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2016

    Man City 1-2 Tottenham

On top of the previous stat, City have now lost four home games in the Premier League this season, more than they had in Manuel Pellegrini’s first two seasons combined (a total of three).

This includes two defeats out of two games since Pellegrini announced he was leaving at the end of the season and the club revealed Pep Guardiola would be replacing him. It is not looking like the wisest of decisions right now. Although, to be fair, they have played two of the most in-form sides in the country.

Spurs striker Harry Kane, talking to Sky Sports: "I think it hit Raheem Sterling's hand but the referee wasn't sure if it was inside or outside. Obviously we were asking for it to be inside.

"Joe Hart has seen me take penalties for England but I knew where i was going to put it and glad it went in.

"That is up to you lot if we are challengers, we know what we are capable of. We are still in three competitions and we are taking them all very seriously. We are confident we can beat anyone in the league, you saw that today and we came away victorious. We are buzzing."
