As a testimony to the work-rate of these Spurs players, three of them - Dier, Alli and Eriksen - have covered over 5km so far this game. No City player has reached that amount yet.

Bit light on goalmouth action, this game. Spurs look very much like a side who would take a point (with a snatched win being a bonus). And they are proving too tough a nut for the home side to crack at the moment. For a good atmosphere at the Etihad, it does not make.

You have to admire the organisation and work-rate of this Spurs side. They are holding City at arm's length and looking to take any opportunity they can to break. They'll need better finishing than their most recent effort, though - an Eric Dier 40-yard punt that flies well over the bar.

This is a good spell for Spurs. They patiently keep the ball just inside the City half and almost present Harry Kane with an opening before the home defence gathers to ward him away. 

Tottenham are staying very compact in the central area on the edge of their own box when City come forward. "Come and break us down if you think you are good enough" the tactic says. So far, City haven't been.

Spurs burst into life to give Joe Hart his first real task. Christian Eriksen cuts inside and fires a long-range dipping effort at goal and draws Hart into a diving save to palm the ball away.

Harry Kane has seen little of the ball so far. Spurs content to keep the ball in their own half and sap the life out of any City momentum.

Penalty shouts! A free-kick is delivered into the Spurs box and is headed back by Vincent Kompany for Raheem Sterling, whose shot is blocked bravely by the diving Danny Rose. It is not a spot-kick. It came off the defender's chest. Superb defending. He is suffering for it as well. Deep breaths Danny, deep breaths.

"Toure is very late that should easily have been a yellow card. That’s twice, he is lucky to be on the field."

Yaya Toure is bang up for this. It is good news for City, but the midfielder also needs to be careful not to get too carried away. He slides in on Kevin Wimmer and misses him by a yard. Had he connected there would have been a card shown, for sure.
