Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce on BT Sport: "The bottom line is we haven’t scored at least two after 14 opportunities. At least three or four really good ones. Not converting chances is costly. It’s a victory lost on chances created.

"Getting back in the game and getting the draw was at least what we deserved. It makes such a difference. I can’t knock the players though.

"We’ve got to get results. We have to catch up as we have no chance otherwise. We’ve got to get over this trait of performing but not winning."

West Ham goalscorer Michail Antonio on BT Sport: "It was hard-fought, they threw everything at us. It was a good clean sheet and great to get the three points.

"Randomly, I started practising it in training yesterday - cutting in on my right-foot. I put in five in five with no keeper, but I managed to do it against a keeper today.

"The celebration came to me when we were in hotel room with the lads yesterday.  They didn’t think I’d do it but I said if I scored today it’s definitely going to be done."

"They could easily have had a point, Sunderland played with great spirit and I'd say Sam Allardyce will have half a smile on his face because they played with great pressure.

"West Ham were fractured in many things they did and Dimitri Payet never really exploded, Slaven Bilic will be happy with the three points.

"Overall a slightly disappointing game in that it was windy, the pitch was a little bit bobbly and Sunderland were fighting to get back in it for a long time."

Sam Allardyce will curse his side's inability not to get something from the game, they are still second from bottom but only a point behind Norwich, who are 17th and are at league leaders Leicester later. Newcastle don't play this weekend. 

Not a Premier League classic by any means but West Ham won't care. Slaven Bilic's side are now unbeaten in 13 home games in all competitions. They have one defeat in their last eight games. 

Sunderland will feel hard done by but that win for West Ham sees them move into the top five in the Premier League. They are now on 43 points, a total they have never reached after 27 Premier League games.

The last attack sees Sunderland scoop the ball high into the air where Adrian can easily claim. All over. 

One last chance for Sunderland, the attack breaks down as the Hammers pack the centre of the pitch. There are numerous chances to get into decent positions from both sides but the final ball has been poor. 

Sunderland are going for it now. All up which leaves them exposed at the back, but Michail Antonio mis-controls the ball with a chance to break clear.

Looks like Sunderland's Seb Larsson might come on now. They have missed his delivery today. Wahbi Khazri has not been at the races in that department.

Great build-up once more from Dimitri Payet as he bursts forward, he plays the ball to Cheikhou Kouyate, but the Senagalese midfielder cannot find the on-rushing Aaron Cresswell. Moments later Payet flashes a shot wide of the post. Vito Mannone was rooted in the Sunderland goal.
