Capital R: If Michail Antonio keeps up his form, then he definitely deserves to go to the Euros. Saw him at Forest where he carried us at times.

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Dame N'Doye steps up, about 25 yards out, left side of the penalty area, and curls it straight into the.......wall. Disappointing.

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Jermain Defoe looks determined to atone for his earlier misses. Here he is close to the edge of the West Ham penalty area and draws a free-kick from Mark Noble.

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Wahbi Khazri is giving young Hammers right-back Sam Byram a good workout down the Sunderland left. And here comes Black Cats left-back Patrick van Aanholt, who plays a neat one-two with Khazri, but the Dutchman fires over.

Sunderland pressing again, with Wahbi Khazri collecting the ball out wide in a decent position down the left but he over-hits his cross. The Tunisian has looked threatening but not quite found his range so far. Still time, though.

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Sunderland have West Ham on the rocks briefly. The hosts recover to win a corner, which Dimitri Payet, quiet so far, drills to the edge of the box where Mark Noble cannot control it.

  8. 'Poor effort from Defoe'published at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham boss on BBC Radio 5 live

"It's a great chance, he's about 18 yards out as he volleys it but it's wide. Poor effort from Jermain Defoe, he had time to do what he wanted.

"I think the wind is a big factor as we said in the first half. That was a defining moment if the score stays at 1-0."

  9. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

It's Jermain Defoe again and he misses again. After being slotted in by Wahbi Khazri's cute pass, the linesman flags the English striker offside, although it looked marginal. Defoe will be a bit relieved.

  10. CLOSE!published at 47 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Chance for Sunderland. Ball is played over the top, by Lee Cattermole, James Collins mis-judges it and Jermain Defoe is through on goal but he leathers the bouncing ball wide. For a man of his calibre, that's one that got away.

  11. Postpublished at 47 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

No changes as Sunderland go looking for an equaliser. By the way Sam Allardyce was signing a few autographs for West Ham fans on his re-emergence from the tunnel. Still well-liked, in some parts, it seems.

So as it stands, West Ham are into fifth in the Premier League. Can they stay there? Can the Olympic Stadium play host to European football next season?

We have 45 minutes to find out.

Sulaimon Adelekan: Big Sam wants old habits, he did long throws with Jay Jay Okocha at Bolton and it was successful.

Peter Sturgess: Antonio has to go to the Euros. Saw him when Walsall played Forest. Changed the game then.

  14. Antonio well worth itpublished at 13:41 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

I first saw Michail Antonio when he came on as a sub for Sheffield Wednesday in the Steel City derby a few years back. He looked decent then, but has clearly developed further in the time since. West Ham paid Nottingham Forest £7m to acquire his services and it's looking good business. He has five goals for the Hammers in all competitions this season.

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Just watching replays of that Michail Antonio goal, his shot must have started two feet outside the far post before curling in. Vito Mannone certainly thought it was going wide.

  16. 'Defoe needs support'published at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

    Sam AllardyceImage source, Getty Images

"Not a game of high quality, spoiled a little bit by the swirling wind.

"From Sunderland's point of view, they started not too badly but Jermain Defoe's had very few opportunities.

"Sam Allardyce will change something to make them more inventive this next half and that's what they need to do to get back in this game.

"Jermain is at his best when he's got someone supporting him. It's easier for him when he's got a big guy taking the weight and he's sniffing around taking half chances."

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+1 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Not much between the two teams. Fine goal by Michail Antonio, his fifth of the season, but he was handily aided by Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt.

  19. Postpublished at 45 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

Sunderland work it down the right and Dame N'Doye delivers a low cross, which is cleared and Jan Kirchoff collects it but inadvertently handballs it when it bounces up. How's your luck?

    One minute of added time.

  20. Postpublished at 44 mins

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

I'm sure that Sam Allardyce works tirelessly with his defenders during the week, and even in Dubai. But there are times when they can be left one on one with a West Ham attacker. Surely with good organisation, that shouldn't be happening?
