Ian Dobson: What exactly are West Ham doing differently under Bilic? They've just hit long ball after long ball?

Andrew Priestley: The swagger and flair has returned to West Ham United. It's great to see, especially in their final season to the Boleyn Ground.

You suspect Sunderland would be happy to make it to the break without conceding again so they can re-group. A half-time rollicking, anyone? West Ham are sniffing a second.

Patrick van Aanholt, who has been among the goals this season for Sunderland, is trying to make up for his earlier error as he marches forward. His low cross is cleared for a corner yet the set-piece is hit too deep. After hitting the bar earlier, West Ham fans are encouraging Mark Noble to shoot from distance.

"Lee Cattermole needs to pass the ball accurately if he's going to play closely to Jermain Defoe. Two or three times he's misplaced his pass when in the final third.

"Sam Allardyce will have to show some adjustment maybe to his formation if they are still behind at half-time."

    The bandwagon has begun.....

    West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

West Ham are searching for a second and Michail Antonio is on it again. He collects the ball with his right foot with back to goal, swivels and fires left-footed on goal and Vito Mannone does very well to turn it around the post.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce will have the hump after that, but here come West Ham again through Manuel Lanzini. He's a crafty player, the Argentine, but his shot from 25 yards is well over.

“There was a stumble on the far side and Michail Antonio came through across the box. It didn't look like he had a shot on and he stretched at it with his left foot.

"It was a strange type of goal, no one came close enough to him. He took a chance and that was successful.

"It's an amazing transition. Many people doubted him and he had this interesting move where he was not even considered, he's been another bonus for West Ham this season."

This is a fine goal by Michail Antonio, but Patrick van Aanholt is at fault at its source. The Sunderland left-back fails to clear the ball under no pressure. Antonio takes advantage, waltzing towards goal before curling a lovely left-foot shot into the net. Celebrates by breakdancing.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is screaming at Deandre Yedlin to launch a long-throw into the West Ham box. Old habits, eh?

Well those chances brought the game to life. I have to say that Vito Mannone has never really convinced me, but he earned his weekly wage there, whatever it is.

Aaron Cresswell finds more space down the West Ham left, and is clipped by Dame N'Doye to earn a free-kick. Dimitri Payet curls the set-piece in but Sunderland remain resolute.

A contrast in goalkeeping styles and Adrian is a touch fortunate again here. Sunderland win a free-kick deep on the right and Wahbi Khazri opts to shoot, not cross, and it sails over the West Ham keeper and clips the top of the bar. Reminiscent of Ronaldinho against David Seaman in the 2002 World Cup, but with different results.

  15. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Down the other end, Adrian gets himself into a right mess from James Collins' backpass. Not a time to play keepy-uppy as Jermain Defoe closes him down but fortunately the tackle spews the ball away from goal. What's he playing at?

  16. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Here we go. Aaron Cresswell and Manuel Lanzini are a good combo down West Ham's left and they work the ball to Mark Noble, who smashes the ball from 25 yards and Vito Mannone gets a finger tip to it to turn it on to the bar. Great save.

  17. A slight Sunderland advantagepublished at 13:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

In an uneventful 15 minutes, Sunderland are just edging the possession stats if that sort of thing floats your boat.

West Ham respond as Aaron Cresswell finds himself deep on the left wing, he makes it deep into the penalty area but his cross is well gathered at the near post by Black Cats keeper Vito Mannone. That's a bit better.

  19. Postpublished at 16 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

A chance? Yes, Jan Kirchoff presses the West Ham midfield, Lee Cattermole gathers and slots the ball through to Jermain Defoe, who is on goal. Guess what, it's offside, but only just.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Here we go, a nice ball forward from West Ham's Mark Noble, which finds its way to Dimitri Payet. What can he do? Alas, his pass into Emmanuel Emenike is cleared by Lee Cattermole.

So far, it's the type of game where the commentator is going through all his carefully-researched stats. Also known as 'filling'.
