Raheem Sterling has wasted two glorious chances to kill off Liverpool and now suddenly his former club are level.

Just six minutes to go and Liverpool feel the momentum shift.

So we are just five minutes away from extra time now. A Liverpool goal did not look like arriving but there it is and their fans are making all the noise.

There it is! Liverpool do get bodies into the box, their first real effort on goal brings a goal! Daniel Sturridge is on the right of the area, he flashes it across goal, Adam Lallana wraps a shot against the post from two yards out, it falls for Philippe Coutinho and he batters it home from eight yards out!

Shirt off, in the crowd, Jurgen Klopp erupts, his surgeon gets nervous...

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 79 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

And we won't see Christian Benteke as Divock Origi becomes Liverpool's third and final sub. Jurgen Klopp summons Jordan Henderson for some instruction. GET IT IN THE MIXER! Would be my advice.

  5. CLOSE!published at 79 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

Into the last 10 minutes. Still no sign of Christian Benteke for Liverpool.

Sergio Aguero beats James Milner, drags it past Lucas and then finds Rahem Sterling - wide again!

  6. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

Auxillary left-back James Milner gets into the area but his cross is poor and City can counter. Sergio Aguero almost whips it past the last man Kolo Toure but the ball goes out.

Andy Butler: How can you expect to win a cup final with 0 shots on target after 70 minutes? Rubbish.

Martin Smith: In reply to Jim in Glasgow: All #LFC, external have done in the last 3 years is splash the cash. Has that really helped? It hasn't!

T, externalim Horgan: Liverpool distinctly average going forward and a disaster at the back. Should be 3 down

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 75 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

Liverpool haven't lost a cup tie to City since 1973 but that fact is very much in danger now. Fernando is booked for a cynical trip on Philippe Coutinho as we enter the final 15 minutes.

  9. Postpublished at 73 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

Somebody has been attempting to turn Liverpool around for my entire adult life. It's quite the task.

Liverpool still having all of the ball but not looking remotely like scoring.

As a Liverpool fan, it's quite clear we need to splash the cash in the summer. The owners are there watching this deal so they need to do something drastic and turn this famous, legendary club around!.

"I want to see a change from Jurgen Klopp. Where is it?! You're a goal down with 20 minutes left. There's a trophy at stake."

That's more like it from Simon Mignolet as he gets down low to turn away a stinging low strike from Sergio Aguero, whose first touch to take it away from Lucas was superb.

  14. Postpublished at 67 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

Liverpool have had 63% of possession but haven't had a shot on target. It's a stat you could use about a lot of Premier League teams at times this season.

  15. Postpublished at 65 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

David Silva fizzes a free-kick over the wall as City continue to look very dangerous on the break.

Former Swansea manager Garry Monk: "There was no reason for Sergio Aguero to go down! It was definitely a penalty. The game has opened up which suits Manchester City, you can see more mistakes for Liverpool."

The game is really opening up now! Yaya Toure sends Sergio Aguero away with a run from deep inside his own half, Aguero jags inside the last man Alberto Moreno, Moreno snakes out a heel and chops Aguero down.

It's a penalty and a red card...but no! Referee Michael Oliver waves play on!

  18. SITTER!published at 59 mins

Raheem Sterling looks dejectedImage source, Reuters

Oh how have you missed that one?! Yaya Toure leads a charge out of defence and City have the numbers. A good pass out right sends David Silva in on goal, he looks up and puts it on a silver platter for Raheem Sterling.

He is six yards out, centre of the goal, with Simon Mignolet to beat. Not a defender in sight. And he puts it WIDE!

A long way wide too. The elaborate, crane-operated, overhead camera angle does him no favours either on the replay. SO MUCH SPACE.

  19. Postpublished at 58 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Man City

Liverpool continue to see more of the ball, with City sitting deep and looking to hit on the break. It could be a decent tactic too with plenty of pace out wide.

At least Liverpool tied him down to a five-year deal eh?

Liverpool now come forwards and Daniel Sturridge finds James Milner making a dart from right to left, a great run behind, but he can't wrap his foot around the ball and screws it wide!
