We've had nothing but praise for Liverpool full-back Brad Smith but perhaps he is still green defensively. This is being overly-critical but he is caught out of position as Enner Valencia's cross from the left floats over his head and Michail Antonio meets it with a wonderful side-foot volley back across Simon Mignolet and into the top corner. Fine finish!

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Slaven Bilic and Liverpool assistant Željko Buvač have a lengthy, but seemingly cordial, exchange of views in the technical area. Not sure what the issue is there as Enner Valencia skins Brad Smith and sees a testing low cross well cleared.

A very watchable game now, just needs a goal as we close in on half-time

Re 20:10 Klopp had his appendix out a few days ago and there he is on the bench disrespecting the FA Cup.

  4. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 38 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Brilliant effort! Dimitri Payet steps up, bends a free-kick over the wall, into the top corner? No! Simon Mignolet gets the very end of a glove on to it  and pushes it onto the post, and then gets up well to push out the follow-up!

Both sides have tested the woodwork now.

"Coutinho pounced well on a weak pass from Winston Reid but overhit the pass to Benteke. It was excellent work from Benteke to pull back and Randolph was well beaten when Coutinho hit the post. West Ham have been too sloppy in possession.

"And Liverpool's movement is causing problems for West Ham at set pieces. Benteke and llori are interchanging and Reid keeps losing Benteke."

  6. Postpublished at 36 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Dimitri Payet has only managed nine successful passes so far, and only four of those have been forward passes.

Not a Match of the Day performance just yet from West Ham's flair player...

But now he has a free-kick in a good spot.

Do you think AC Milan would give us Balotelli back if we gave them Benteke?

  8. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 34 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Winston Reid gives the ball away cheaply, and it almost costs West Ham! Christian Benteke gets into the area, wide left, he cuts back with some lovely quick feet and finds Philippe Coutinho at the near post, he side-foots an effort against the post!

Kevin Stewart can't follow it up and from the corner Benteke has a header saved...

  9. We need to talk about Kevin...published at 32 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool's young players are acquitting themselves well so far. Midfielder Kevin Stewart has made more passes than any other player on the pitch. No killar pass though. Yet.

    Porlsbury Doughboy: Smith > Moreno

LFCWay: I would pick Brad Smith ahead of Moreno any day. Great prospect. Should get chance in PL

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

    Kevin Kilbane
Ex-Everton and Republic of Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 live

"Liverpool are playing well. You looked at the sides before and saw West Ham with much more experience. But Liverpool are keeping the ball well and playing with tempo and vigour. Brad Smith getting forward from left-back has been electric."

  12. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

What an engine on Brad Smith, the Liverpool left-back slices through West Ham yet again and puts in another dangerous ball, it deflects out to Joao Teixeira 15 yards out, just hit the target and you score - drills it wide!

Liverpool having a very dangerous spell. Feed Brad Smith...

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

    Kevin Kilbane

"Brilliant chance for Liverpool. Getting the ball into Christian Benteke helped him free Philippe Coutinho initially, Brad Smith gets his head up and delivers, but Jordon Ibe didn't read it. A good counter attack from Liverpool - that's when they've been at their best so far tonight."

  14. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Well played Brad Smith again! The Liverpool left-back gallops in on the underlap, drives into the box and is able to pick his head up and feed in a low cross. Christian Benteke has a swing and doesn't connect, and Jordon Ibe can't get there either!

Two good crosses from Smith have gone through the area now...

Mark Taylor: What's Klopp's excuse this time for disrespecting the FA Cup? All teams have other games to play as well as cup games. Sad

  16. Postpublished at 23 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Dimitri Payet nutmegs Brad Smith, lovely feet, but then the ball runs out of play. West Ham now looking well on top but Simon Mignolet hasn't had to make a save yet.

I barely want to mention this but - we could go to penalties tonight...

  17. Postpublished at 20 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

Michail Antonio looks busy for West Ham tonight, he's had two rangy runs down the right and now he bursts though a challenge in the middle but can't find a team-mate. West Ham looking more dangerous by the minute.

I can't say there are any new grounds I've been too that have left me thinking 'wow, this is so much better than the old ground' even in cases like Wigan and Swansea where the old ground was falling to bits. Sunderland probably the best. Even though Preston stayed put Deepdale doesn't have half the character it had pre-1994.

"Dimitri Payet comes to life, spots Joey O'Brien free on the right side and gets the ball out of his feet with a great first touch to find him. But it is brilliant defending by Lucas to get across and deflect O'Brien's shot onto the post."

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Liverpool

What an unlikely scorer that nearly was! West Ham right-back Joey O'Brien steps forwards, he's not tracked and has a dig from 18 yards. Lucas snakes out a toe and deflects the ball wide of Simon Mignolet but the ball thuds against the base of the post!
