Norwich boss Alex Neil: "There wasn't anything in the match. It was pretty even, quite an edgy game. They managed to get the goal.

"In the second half it opened up a bit. Unfortunately we didn't get the goal when we were on top at the end."

Swansea coach Alan Curtis: "It’s a big statement. It gives ourselves some breathing space, but we’re still only on 33 points, which is not enough for safety.

"There is still plenty of work to do. We’ll be back in on Tuesday to focus on getting another massive three points at Bournemouth."

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic: "It feels great. We don't have a great record here, we don't have a record here at all to be fair.

"This is why English football is so attractive and so good basically. If they scored a penalty we could have lost three or four nil.

"However, nobody could say that over 90 minutes we didn't deserve it, we did and that is what makes me proud of the team. It is a great day for West Ham."

Everton boss Roberto Martinez: "The key moment was the penalty. That would have been game over and it is a feeling of missed opportunity. Everyone got a bit shocked at that moment.

"The effort, with a man down, it went to the last 10 minutes we found it difficult to do what we had been doing - the way we had to match 11 men cost us in the final 10 minutes.

"It is a shame we could not win because up until the 78th minute we were well worth winning it."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Sport: “That's a big win for us and I thought it was thoroughly deserved. It was a bit nervy at the end but it was great to get a third goal to seal it.

“It was tighter perhaps than it should have been but I was very pleased with a great performance. We had a real threat about us going forward. It was great to see us score three away from home.

“I think the crowd here can work one of two ways. We wanted to dominate the ball and thankfully we got on top.

“It’s a good position to be in and we want to just finish the job that we have started. But we have some massive games to come and it’s not over yet.

“It would mean everything for us [to stay up]. There’s a lot of pressure on us but so far we are coping quite well.”

Many managers consider themselves lucky if they have been in the same job for three years, but one boss' 30-year reign is over.

Ronnie McFall, who was the longest serving manager in European football, stepped down as Portadown boss on Saturday, minutes after the shock Irish Cup defeat by Lurgan Celtic.

Stoke City

Stoke boss Mark Hughes told BBC Sport: "We’re grateful to equalise but we deserved more from the game. It was an excellent away performance, we took the game to Chelsea. We were encouraged by the team they picked. 

"Their goal came out of the blue, it was a great bit of individual skill. I felt we were a strong team and made things happen. I was a bit surprised with their team. I thought they had a chance to get in the Champions League. We’re really pleased with the performance."

On almost bringing Mame Biram Diouf off before his goal: "That’s the bit of luck you need. He put a great shift in. I felt it was right to give him a go in the centre with his pace and movement. He was looking a bit tired so I thought I’d freshen it up. Luckily he scored just before I brought him off."

Chelsea

Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink told BBC Sport: "Stoke play well and creatively and they pushed us back. The first goal we got after a sloppy start, it was a beautiful goal. We should have got a penalty for a foul on Oscar. Any referee would have given a free-kick if it was outside the box. That was a key point. Stoke got some encouragement after that.

"We have rested one or two players but it’s good to see the players who came in, especially the young ones, like Traore and Loftus-Cheek do well. 

"Everyone knows in December we were one point off the relegation zone. There was a little bit of panic. Through a lot of draws at the beginning we moved away and then we had to make the next step with victories, which we did."

Aston Villa

"We collapsed totally in the second half after a good first half. The game plan was to defend well as long as we could, but as soon as they scored we collapsed again. 

"The first 45 minutes was not entertaining but we knew it was the only solution for us. We had one chance in the first 45, and I told the players if we played like that we might get another. 

Can Villa stay up? "We can do it but we have to be realistic, if we play like we did in the first half, we have a chance. But if we play like in the second half, it is difficult."

Manchester City

Manchester City boss Maneul Pellegrini: "It was very important to be patient because we created chances in the first half. We dominated the game, so we just had to make it faster. 

"We thought it would be a tough game, but maybe at the start we played a bit below our level, but we made the changes we needed to. 

"I think the other teams will lose a lot of points, because it is a very close season. In the last six games the pressure will be on all the teams, so we have to carry on playing this way. 

"Our experience is very important, we are used to handling pressure at the end of the season. I am sure other teams will start losing points because of the pressure."

Kevin Christie: I like McClaren. Absolutely nothing wrong with him except his tactics, team selections and ability to motivate players.

Danny Morgan: All this talk about how poor Newcastle were, how about somebody recognising how well Bournemouth have done this season?

Diego the Alter Ego: There is no time to "turn it around". McClaren has had all season for that & he's made NUFC worse

Northampton extended their lead at the top of the table by thumping Carlisle 4-1 at Brunton Park, while Oxford in second were held 2-2 at third-placed Plymouth.

In the battle of the basement, Dagenham and Redbridge beat York 1-0 but stay at the foot of the table four points behind the struggling Minstermen.
