Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish calls for some perspective in his programme notes as the club go through this tricky spell of form.

"We all need to remember that we have more points than we did at this stage last year and whilst things have been tough of late it’s now that we need to stick together and back the boys," writes Parish.

"A couple of good results will see us book our place in the Premier League next season for the fourth year in a row and that is a massive achievement for this club. That, along with the FA Cup run, gives me plenty of optimism that this can still be a fantastic campaign."

  14. 'Newcastle are a mess'published at 11:31 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2016

    Newcastle United

Newcastle are "a mess from top to bottom", according to former captain Alan Shearer.

The Magpies were booed off following the 3-1 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday - a third successive league defeat that leaves them 19th in the table.

It also increased speculation over head coach Steve McClaren's future.

"If that's a performance from the players to say they are backing the manager, they are in trouble," Shearer told BBC's Match of the Day.

"McClaren is in massive trouble, he has to take his fair share of the blame."

  15. Postpublished at 11:27 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2016

Crystal Palace v Liverpool (13:30 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Crystal Palace are the last Premier League side left waiting for a win in 2016. Alan Pardew's men were looking good for European qualification before embarking on this horrible run of only four points from 11 games.

"Palace will take heart from the four goals Connor Wickham has scored in the last two games - assuming the striker is fit - and from playing against a Liverpool side they have beaten in their last three meetings.

"Liverpool exacted a stylish revenge for the League Cup final defeat on Manchester City in midweek, but continue to be hard to predict.

"At their best, Liverpool look a very serious team indeed but they are still prone to too many poor days."

Claudio Ranieri has told his Leicester players that "every match is a final" after the Foxes extended their Premier League lead on Saturday.

Leicester defeated Watford 1-0 to move on to 60 points, five more than nearest rivals Tottenham, with nine games left.

"We are running for something special," said Ranieri, whose side have only lost three times in 29 league games this season, winning 17.

"Every match in the Premier League is a battle. Five points is nothing."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on his side's chances of a top-four finish: "Six points is not the world. We have to show it, Consistency has not been our hobby until now. We need to improve that.

"Our starting position isn't a masterclass but we are still in a good enough position to achieve something.

"I have some hard selection decisions to make. We haven't had this before. We have to use this new quality to change and rest."

  20. 'I can't see any positives'published at 10:57 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2016

    Can you?

    Newcastle United

Alan Pardew's old club aren't faring any better either, with Steve McClaren saying Newcastle will go down if they continue to play like they did against Bournemouth on Saturday - and admits he is struggling to see any positives in his side's predicament.

United were comfortably beaten 3-1 by the Cherries - a result that keeps them in the Premier League's bottom three.

After McClaren's side were booed off by the home supporters, he told BBC Sport: "I fully believe in what we are doing. But if we keep playing like that we will go down."

The 54-year-old former England boss added: "There is no flowering it up. Players need to step up and not enough are doing that.

"At the moment I can't see any positives, but we need to stick together and fight."
