"A good start for Newcastle. Wes Morgan this season has eradicated most of those errors, this season he's been so assured. He didn't seem to think Sissoko was behind him."

Leicester defender Wes Morgan plays a shoddy backpass inside 20 seconds and Kasper Schmeichel has to scurry out and clear his lines. Schmeichel has hurt his foot in the process and he is absolutely fuming!

Benitez's track record at his clubs bar Real Madrid, where he wasn't really successful, is top-notch. It's a real coup for the Magpies to attract a manager of this talent to their club, but I think tonight will be a bridge too far for them, taking into account their poor away form.

A six-foot fox barges Wes Morgan out of the way and leads the sides out onto the pitch as the hunting horn welcomes them. Claudio Ranieri and Rafa Benitez emerge behind the teams, arms around each other. It's all very friendly.

I remember Jurgen Klopp embracing Ranieri like that a while back. And Ranieri and Jamie Vardy ended the night with the win...

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri: "Tonight is another tough match, Newcastle, I can't understand why they are so far down the league. It will be a battle, they will show their strengths to their new manager but we are ready.

"Rafa keeps possession, he is very organised, narrow and I hope [today] that is not enough for him!

"Of course it is more difficult, the first match with a new manager there is every time a reaction."

'Not the time to talk about Mahrez transfer rumours'published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2016

Riyad Mahrez was recently presented with the Sportsman of the Year Award at the Asian Voice Political and Public Life awards

Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez has been linked with Barcelona, Arsenal and Real Madrid but his agent has told BBC World Service that the Algerian is not being distracted by transfer speculation.

"Today the only thing that matters to him is winning the title with Leicester and qualifying for the Champions League," says Kamel Bengougam.

“He’s very happy. Since arriving at the club only good things have happened to him. He's played at the World Cup, he's moved up into the Premier League. Today, he's playing for the team at the top of the league in England.

“This is not the time to talk about that. It's the time to concentrate on finishing the season well. The transfer window will open after the season. Then we'll be able to see if these stories are true or false.

“What's good with him is that he loves football. He doesn't like what goes on around football."

  12. The £400k question...published at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2016

    Leicester v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

Riyad Mahrez has been one of the inspirations behind Leicester's unexpected but widely welcomed Premier League title challenge.

The 25-year-old Algeria international, signed from French side Le Havre for just £400,000 in January 2014, has been a sensation this season, scoring 15 league goals, including the winner against Watford on Saturday.

Mahrez's journey to this point has been far from straightforward.

The slight but talented forward was born in the tough Parisian suburb of Sarcelles and lost his father, Ahmed, to a heart attack at the age of 15.

But his determination and skill took him across France and to the top of the Premier League.

Being a Sunderland fan I've been sticking pins into my Rafa Benitez voodoo doll all weekend. Easiest place to buy a razor in the UK as Toon Army males are now growing Benitez lookalike goatee beards. Come on Leicester. Make history. Fear nothing. The title is yours to take. Go grab it. The world of football supports you. It's magical and a joy to watch. Come on you Foxes.

Inspiring stuff Andy. Big Sam should get you on the coaching staff!

"A lot of them need confidence. It is not an easy time but we think we can do well. I am sure they will do well.

Tinkerman? I don't think so. Claudio Ranieri sticks with the side which beat Watford in the league earlier this month.

Jonjo Shelvey captains Newcastle as Rafael Benitez makes two changes to the team which lost 3-1 to Bournemouth. In come Aleksandar Mitrovic and Vurnon Anita as the Spaniard attempts to get his reign off to a winning start.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel; Simpson, Huth, Morgan (c), Fuchs; Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater, Albrighton; Okazaki, Vardy.
