Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck talking to BT Sport: "We had some chances, it was difficult to come here 2-0 down but we had a plan to get through. It was a difficult occasion for us and unfortunately we couldn't get through.

"We had a couple of opportunities where we should have done better and with the quality they have then they are clinical when they have chances.

"Coming to the Nou Camp you really want to leave your mark, we could have done better in certain situations and it is disappointing."

"Arsenal created lots of chances but only put four on target - that is not clinical enough. Not many teams create nine efforts at the Nou Camp never mind 19.

"If their finishing was anywhere near the standard of Barcelona's then Arsenal could have won this game.

"Their biggest problem is they don't have a world-class centre forward."

All over in Barcelona. The holders cruise into the Champions League quarter-finals - anyone betting against them being stopped?

    Arsenal haven't reached the quarter-finals since 2010.

  7. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:34

    Barcelona 3-1 Arsenal (agg 5-1)

Two minutes of stoppage time in the Nou Camp. We're not going to see the same level of drama that we're seeing in Munich. Just call me Mystic Meg...

Well, well, well... With just minutes to spare Bayern seem to have taken this match into extra time.

A beautiful ball from substitute Kingsley Coman to Thomas Muller and the German is lethal from six yards. An adroit turn and finish.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:33

Bayern Munich 1-2 Juventus (agg 3-4)

Douglas Costa has been one of the very few Bayern players to shine and he hits the woodwork with a 25-yard humdinger - but some of his team-mates were offside so it wouldn't have counted even had he found the net.

    *drools over keyboard*

There's nothing that can be said about Lionel Messi that hasn't been said before. Simply stunning.

The Barca forward caps victory with a sublime dink over David Ospina from 10 yards out.

How many times have we seen him do it?! Loads. But it still makes us purr...

Oh Theo! Arsenal substitute Walcott scurries clear but can't beat Marc Andre ter Stegen from an acute angle. Just not happening...

The Nou Camp clock ticks past the 85-minute mark. Time running out on Arsenal's Champions League campaign. Time running out on Arsenal's season?

  14. Postpublished at 21:27

    Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal (agg 4-1)

And here's something else that sums up Arsenal's night other than missed chances...occasionally losing concentration at the back and it almost proving costly. The Gunners defence is half asleep at a Barca corner, allowing their opponents a free header. Luckily it finds the bonce of Sergio Busquets - a man not know for his goalscoring instincts - and troubles the people sat in Row H behind the goal.

Under 10 minutes remaining in Munich and Pep Guardiola's side are still in deficit against Juventus. The Italians have retreated deep into their own half in a bid to stem the Germans - and so far it's working.

Wave after wave of red shifts crashing into a black and white wall.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:23

    Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal (agg 4-1)

Ten seconds....three chances....no goal. That sums up Arsenal's night really. Alexis Sanchez's 20-yard free-kick bends towards the top corner, only to be blocked by Marc-Andre ter Stegen's big right hand. The German stands tall to stop Olivier Giroud's rebound, with one of his defenders coming to his rescue with a diving header when he finally looks to be beaten by Theo Walcott's close-range prod.

  18. FINAL FIFTEENpublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2016

    Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal (agg 4-1)

Exhibition stuff from Barcelona. A one-touch passing move ends in Lionel Messi knocking down to Ivan Rakitic, but the onrushing Croatian midfielder's 20-yard shot is always scooting high over the Arsenal bar.

Just 15 minutes left for the Gunners to bag three goals and not concede another at the other end...

A dreamy cross towards the back post from Douglas Costa and Robert Lewandowski's bullet header leaves Gianluigi Buffon with no chance. A comeback?

Barcelona make a change. Messi off? No. Suarez? No. Neymar? No. It's the fourth best possible scenario for Arsenal fans...Andres Iniesta's night is done.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger responds by making a double change...Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck are replaced by Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott.

A quickfire hat-trick would be a better present than a pair of new socks for birthday boy Walcott....
