It's an exciting or nervy time for Scottish football depending on your disposition.

Tonight Scotland host Denmark and could hand debuts to as many as six players, though in contrast, captain Scott Brown is set for his 50th cap.

The battle to be Republic of Ireland's number one goalkeeper goes on and Newcastle's Rob Elliot will stake his claim against Slovakia.

Elsewhere on the continent Germany could lose for a third game in a row when they meet Italy, a team they have not beaten in 21 years.

Sweden - beaten by Turkey three days ago - meet Czech Republic. Erik Hamren's side have another two friendlies ahead of Euro 2016.

    "Football is not afraid".

The message from Portugal manager Fernando Santos following attacks which killed 35 people in Brussels is one of defiance and solidarity.

His side were supposed to play in Belgium tonight but the fixture has been relocated to Leiria.

Santos called the move "a very good solution", adding: "The important thing is the signal this match gives, the signal is that football is not afraid, the people are not afraid."

Over four months ago there were scenes of chaos at the Stade de France.

The attacks on Paris on 14 November 2015 - which killed 130 people - are still on the minds of French players according the national team manager Didier Deschamps.

"You don't forget, but you have to move forward," said Deschamps ahead of Les Bleus' first match at the Stade de France since the attacks.

France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris added: "We have to continue to live and to live our passion together, it's important."

Ian Funnell: Wow Lallana starting again. Not sure he is good enough for the squad let alone a starting place.

Matthew Weston: Lallana being given one last chance to impress. Drinkwater has a chance to squeeze Carrick, Delph and Wilshere out!

It's been quite some time since Daniel Sturridge last turned out for England - 573 days to be precise.

Then he started in a front three alongside Wayne Rooney and Raheem Sterling as England edged a 1-0 friendly victory over Norway in September 2014.

Theo Walcott, Danny Drinkwater, Ryan Bertrand. Who will make Roy Hodgson's final cut? And who will be left watching the action on TV at home?

"It will be their last opportunity to show me what they can do in an England shirt in front of me as manager of the England team," said Hodgson.

"But there is a lot of monitoring that we will continue to do in the remainder of the season.

“We intend to collate a lot of information supplied to us about their training sessions in the clubs over the next few weeks as well. In three or four weeks’ time I’ll be meeting up with my technical and medical staff and asking questions about these players, and we’ll know better where we are."

Roy Hodgson has three matches after today to fine-tune his team before Euro 2016.

Yet the visit of a declining Netherlands team to Wembley is England's last before he names his 23-man squad, plus seven standby players, on 12 May for the tournament.

No wonder Hodgson hopes for more answers than questions against the Oranje.

It's now or never for the fringe players looking to secure a seat on board Hodgson's plane to France.
