It's all over in Italy too. The hosts must be content with a draw against the European champions. Napoli midfielder Lorenzo Insigne stuck the Azzurri ahead, only for 35-year-old Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz - Spain's very own Roy of the Rovers - levelling within seconds on his first international start.

Never heard of Aduriz? One of my esteemed colleagues has previously written about him here.

So Wales now travel to Ukraine on Monday, which will be a tricky encounter and maybe give them a few clues before their Euro 2016 group game against Russia. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland face Slovenia. Only 78 days until the Euros kick off.

Wales boss Chris Coleman: "Our lads showed pride, and without seven or eight who haven't played in the qualifying campaign it was about looking wider than that tonight. There are lots of positives, I was delighted for Sam Vokes who did well for us and Simon Church, who made an impact. 

"One or two of the players have probably made it more difficult to choose my 23 for the Euros now!"

Wales midfielder Joe Allen: "We were relieved to get the equaliser. The application was there and a couple of new caps, which was great for those lads and a couple of lads who haven't been involved for a while. We have plenty to work on but that's what these friendlies are for. We will look forward to Ukraine which will be a different and a tough challenge and you need that sort of challenge ahead of the Euros."

Northern Ireland goalscorer Craig Cathcart: "Preparation for the Euros is key, we played 3-5-2 in the first half and then went to four defenders in the second half. It's good to try those sort of things."

"That was a fair result. Both teams were cautious in their approach. Wales have got a lot of starters missing, but the plus points were David Cotterill played really well and Simon Church came on and got the equaliser."

"Overall it was a good work out for both teams. There are plenty of things that both managers will take away from this, probably more for the Wales manager Chris Coleman. That's because he has blooded some players that he doesn't know much about in terms of playing on the international stage."

So who will be most pleased by that - Chris Coleman or Michael O'Neill? Wales had the better chances and more possession but Northern Ireland were more clinical and were solid at the back. That will stand them in good stead at the Euros.

Wales goalscorer Simon Church: "It was nice to get the equaliser, it was a tough game. They deserve to get where they are after their qualifying campaign. It was the last time fans will see us before the Euros so we wanted to put on a good performance. All I have to do is keep playing well and we will see [if I make the squad]. It's competitive." 

All smiles from both teams and they exchange handshakes and hugs. See you at the Euros, yeah? Or more likely at West Brom next week. 

All over. No thriller but with both sides heading to France this summer the real hard work is behind and ahead of them. 

Cross from the right comes in but Jonny Williams, cannot get it on target. That might be that.

"That's Simon Church's strength - his movement and darting runs. I think it is a bit harsh on Northern Ireland. Gareth McAuley got across and put his wrong leg to tackle him. It's difficult for the referee - it's 50-50. We've seen it on television and still can't decide. But that's what you want from a substitute, he's come on and made an impact."

Both sides have raised their games now. When I say raised, I mean they are snapping into tackles and leaving attackers with no time on the ball. Wales on the attack...

The crowd erupt, all of a sudden the game feels like a Home Nations clash. Ashley Williams is up but Northern Ireland hold firm. 

Wales want one as four minutes go up on the board.
