Wales have definitely improved since their subs have come on. Can they find an equaliser?

Chris Coleman does not look happy as he chews his gum with some force. Wales could travel to Ukraine on Monday with three successive defeats under their belts. On the pitch, Andrew Crofts' shot is well hit, Northern Ireland block it and Simon Church is offside as he tries to divert the deflection.

We've had a couple of nominations for Alexi Lalas. His beard is a thing of beauty, no doubt, and ginger, so ginger. Love it.

But, sadly, it is also a thing of the past. How could you Alexi?

"Northern Ireland would love to hear the final whistle now. Wales have picked up the tempo and the substitutions have made a difference. Every time they get ball they are driving at the Northern Ireland defence. Northern Ireland can't control the midfield at the minute."

More subs. Northern Irish striker Kyle Lafferty is done and is replaced by Aaron Hughes, who now plays in Melbourne. Billy McKay is also into the action.

More impressive defending. David Cotterill, who has crossed the ball more than I've had hot dinners this month, finds Lloyd Isgrove at the back post. But Conor McLaughlin pokes it clear for a corner, which comes to nowt.

Jonny Williams has made an impact on the game since coming on, as he burst forward to the edge of the box. He cleverly flicks the ball forward into Simon Church, who arrives at pace from the right but is barged off the ball. Good defending from the visitors again.

    Italy 1-1 Spain

Now here's a story! Veteran Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz has bagged on his first start for Spain - six years after his only other international cap.

The 35-year-old frontman, who has netted 31 goals for the La Liga side in all competitions, slams in an equaliser just seconds after Italy take the lead through Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne.

Read Aduriz's remarkable story, which we published earlier this year, here.

Sorry, another change for Wales to tell you about. Simon Church, who is on loan at Aberdeen, is on for Sam Vokes.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 75 mins

    Wales 0-1 Northern Ireland

Changes for Northern Ireland now, whose fans are having a right ol' party in the stands. Jonny Evans and Paddy McNair are replaced by Daniel Lafferty and Paul Paton.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 74 mins

    Wales 0-1 Northern Ireland

Pressure from Wales as debutant Lloyd Isgrove tries to find some room on the right. Chris Gunter's cross is cleared and then shortly afterwards Andrew Crofts is wayward from range. Joe Allen, fresh from his appearance on the front cover of Chicken & Egg magazine, is on now in place of David Vaughan.

    Think I'm egging you on?

Michael McGovern to the rescue once again. The ball is worked to the Welsh right, Jonny Williams takes a shot, it deflects off a Northern Ireland defender and keeper McGovern is out off his line to beat Sam Vokes to the ball.

Bit of a mix-up in the Northern Ireland defence, but Michael McGovern is quickly out to recover. He's been solid tonight. Wales on the verge of a third straight defeat.

"The result is obviously important for Wales tonight but Chris Coleman is mainly looking at the players. His dilemma is who is he going to take in his 23-man squad to France. I was hoping for a clean sheet tonight and against Ukraine on Monday so we go into the games against the big teams thinking we can defend well against anybody."

Jonny Williams is straight into the action for Wales, surging down the left before his run is brought to a halt by Conor McLaughlin. Free-kick on the left, from David Cotterill, but it's curled straight into the arms of Michael McGovern.
