    And still United press.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson feeds Memphis Depay on the edge of the penalty area.

The Dutchman jinks and weaves his way into a shooting position before having a scuffed low shot turned away by goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler.

It is looking a little ominous for Shrewsbury fans.

Manchester United are having shots at will on goal.

They are having all of the ball and the opener - for them - looks just a matter of time.

"Chris Smalling wont get a better chance all season. He's six, seven yards out. He just needs to direct it down."

That's more like it. Shaun Whalley is played in down the right for Shrewsbury.

He pokes it through for the marauding Jack Grimmer but the danger is sniffed out.

United break and Memphis Depay has another shot.

This one was far better... it only reached row X, rather than hitting the roof. Awful.

    That was pretty wild too.

Memphis Depay collects the ball with his back to goal, turns and then shoots against the roof of the stand behind the goal.

Huge cheers from the home fans but their side haven't started yet.

    Wake up Salop.

  6. CLOSE!published at 2 mins

    Shrewsbury 0-0 Manchester United

Early corner for Manchester United and it should be 1-0.

Daley Blind swings it in from the right and an unmarked Chris Smallling leaps like a salmon but heads well, well over.

If this was at Shrewsbury's old home - Gay Meadow - that fella in the boat would be busy retrieving the ball...

This has the magic of the FA Cup all over it.

  12. No fear?published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2016

Shrewsbury v Manchester United (19:45 GMT)

Louis van Gaal has barely been off the back pages.

And when you consider Manchester United have only won five of their last 18 matches in all competitions, it isn't a total surprise.

Two of those victories were in the FA Cup against Sheffield United and Derby County though.

The Dutchman is quoted in today's newspapers saying United have lost the fear factor. I'm not sure that will appease the Old Trafford faithful.

    Here come the teams...

Anyone smell a cup upset? Shrewsbury's Greenhous Meadow will be bursting at the seams.

Remember Leyton Orient beating Chelsea in 1972? Sutton beating Coventry in 1989? Hereford beating Newcastle in 1972?

This would be right up there if Shrewsbury beat United.

    They couldn't. Could they?

Michael Carrick, who used to be regarded as the sort of steadying influence ideal for these games, pays the price for his very poor performance in the Europa League loss to Danish side FC Midtjylland.

The 34-year-old midfielder drops to the bench in what is an experienced Manchester United line-up.

Wayne Rooney is out for several weeks with knee ligament damage and keeper David de Gea is missing with an ankle problem, so Sergio Romero continues in goal.

Manager Louis van Gaal, with so much resting on tonight, is taking no chances.
