  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Chelsea 4-1 Man City

Standing ovation as Diego Costa and Pedro make way for Bertrand Traore and Oscar. The latter is straight into the action, rifling a decent strike just over.

    Hazard

"It is not a good free-kick in terms of pace, but the goalkeeper Willy Cabalerro is gone. He has to stay to stay on one side and that is another error. He needed to be that side of the wall and then the only way Eden Hazard can score is up and over the wall.

"That was well executed, but it should never go in."

Now that would have been nice. Kelechi Iheanacho, back to goal, attempts a backheel from eight yards out. Good defending by Gary Cahill, though, who is wise to the effort and makes the block.

Can't fault the performance and desire of Manchester City's younger players. It has been the more experienced ones that have let them down.

    Eden Hazard

"You won it, you take it," Willian says to Eden Hazard as the Belgian stands over the ball. Right choice as Hazard curls the ball through the wall and into the corner. Lovely strike.

Where was Willy Caballero, though? Should have been closer to it.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 65 mins

    Chelsea 3-1 Man City

Martín Demichelis hacks down Eden Hazard, who is in full flight. Yellow card and Chelsea have a free-kick just outside the D.

    Willian o'clock?

    Chelsea 3-1 Man City

Good, positive run by Kelechi Iheanacho takes the ball into the final third. Chelsea, disciplined and organised, are quickly back and keep their shape. It forces Manchester City backwards and Chelsea steal the chance for an attack of their own as Cesc Fabregas gets the ball on the left, works it back to Diego Costa on the edge of the area, but he sweeps a low effort well wide.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini looks disconsolate. The brief hope offered by David Faupala's equaliser has been snuffed out.

He is sure to to face questions about his team selection. The irony is that keeper Willy Caballero (34), Martin Demichelis (35) and Fernando (28) have been among City's worst performers.

What does Manuel Pellegrini do now? Thirty minutes to go, a look to his bench and he has Raheem Sterling there. Does he bring on the forward to try and change things, or put this down as a lost cause?

At the moment, Manchester City cannot get the ball off of Chelsea. The youngsters look a little stunned.

Ken McDonald: Pellegrini's team talk at the half must have been about avoiding fixture congestion.

Chris Collins: A city goal would turn up the heat nicely

Titch: Caballero is a terrible keeper! Fair to say he is the main reason city have lost this tie

Chelsea may have the comfort of a two-goal cushion, but Guus Hiddink, perhaps mindful of Manchester City's response to Chelsea's opener, isn't celebrating just yet.

The Blues boss is angrily shouting instructions at his players and is rewarded as the hosts win a corner. Willian swings the ball in but Branislav Ivanovic's header loops into Will Caballero's hands.

Andrew Priestley: If Chelsea weren't flagging in mid-table in the Premier League then Willian would be a shoe-in for PFA Player of the Year.

Tor Noppharat: 2 assists for Hazard today. Alright. I'll give him the credit.

Callum Anderson: When it rains, it pours.

    "Again it is Cesc Fabregas.

"Manchester City don't clear the ball and goalkeeper Willy Caballero should save it. It is a mistake.

"It has been an impressive start to the second half by Chelsea, they have come out and want this game done."

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 55 mins

  16. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 3-1 Man Citypublished at 53 mins

    Gary Cahill

Two goals in five minutes and you would think this tie is pretty much over now.

Willian's corner is initally cleared, but the ball is eventually put back into the box where Fernando's attempted clearance hits Gary Cahill and the defenderthumps the ball home from just inside the area.

Maneul Pellegrini reacts by instructing another of Manchester City's young guns to get ready to come on. Brandon Barker, a pacey winger, is ready and waiting.

Manchester City have another attack to deal with though as Pedro's shot is blocked for a corner.

    Willian

"Chelsea's player of the season Willian breaks out with pace, he commits people. Eden Hazard waits and picks him out.

"City have done this a lot this season - they try to squeeze out high and there is no pressure on the ball, bad defending for me."

  19. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 2-1 Man Citypublished at 48 mins

    Willian

Oh too easy for Chelsea as they retake the lead.

It all comes as a Manchester City attack breaks down. Gary Cahill finds Willian, who charges forward from his own half and passes to Eden Hazard in support. Hazard waits for Willian to get into the box and plays a neat pass to his team-mate's feet and Willian sweeps into the far corner.
