    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

If you want goalmouth action, this match hasn't quite caught fire..

A glance at the heat maps below, Chelsea left, Man City right, shows that.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Manchester City haven't really had a chance since that early David Faupala effort but a rare foray into the final third sees Kelechi Iheanacho drive over from just outside the box. Always rising.

Chelsea keep knocking on that door as this time Baba Rahman curls the ball towards the far post. Pedro gets free of the defence, but his first touch his horrible and takes him away from goal. Fortunately, his blushes are spared by the offside flag.

Gareth Vaughan: Hazard looks like he's mentally already made the move to PSG. Man City may be playing with kids but Chelsea are playing with 10 men.

Colin: The kids are doing well against Chelsea, it'll be such a shame if they're let down by that particularly dodgy-looking keeper.

Willy Caballero is looking decidedly shaky in this game. The Manchester City goalkeeper produces some sort of strange forward dive-punch to clear Baba Rahman's cross and unsurprisingly the clearance is unconvincing. It needs a header away from a Manchester City player to get rid of the danger.

Underdog status is the perfect atmosphere for these young guns to showcase their talent. Will be interesting to see how the counter attack develops.

Pedro and Cesc Fabregas combine again, but this time it is the latter who gets the chance to shoot at goal, but his effort is straight at Willy Caballero.

"It is the talking from the experienced players to the youngsters, they will need to give little words of wisdom and provide encouragement.

"I had Jamie Redknapp, Gary McAllister and Dietmar Hamann talking me through the game and it made it easier.

"On my debut, I had Paul Ince in my ear after three minutes for giving the ball away."

Hugely impressed by David Faupala in these early stages.

The Manchester City forward is always looking to make himself available, dropping deep to help build attacks, and is also putting himself about a bit, as Gary Cahill knows. The defender now has a couple of cotton buds stuck up his nose after that earlier clash.

Chelsea have had the best chance of the game so far - Pedro's effort hitting the post - and that is reward for being just that little bit more adventurous than Manchester City. The Blues (left graphic) are playing a little further up the pitch compared to their opponents.

Cass Blakeman: Chelsea field TWO masked men today. Although to be fair, nothing could make Diego Costa look scarier.

Chris Haydon: Electric start from Chelsea. We look urgent & hungry.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 18 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Chelsea are turning up the wick a bit now as Diego Costa bulldozes his way into the area, he flicks the ball past Martin Demichelis, but tumbles to the ground after a challenge by Tosin Adarabioyo. Chelsea fans want a penalty but nothing is given.

Crikey, Gary Cahill is getting knocked about a bit in this game.

The defender challenges for the ball with David Faupala and takes a whack to the nose. Referee Andre Mariner stops play to allow him to receive treatment as the blood pours from his nostrils.

    Pedro

"If you ever want to see two players on the same wavelength, take a look at Cesc Fabregas and Pedro.

"Pedro knows he is going to get the ball back, a brilliant move, but unlucky for Chelsea as he hits the post."

James Ash: Without trying to be too disrespectful to the Man City players, it would be typical of Chelsea's season to lose to this side.

David: Somebody tell pellegrini... You'll never win anything with kids!

    Lovely football from Chelsea.

Pedro, on the right, jinks his way towards the box, passes to Cesc Fabregas and continues his run. Fabregas is all over it and flicks the ball through for Pedro, who clips a shot towards the far corner, but it strikes the post. Unlucky.

No drama, Gary Cahill, fresh from a swift bit of power stretching that wouldn't have looked out of place in a Mr Motivator video, is back on the pitch.

    Willian

"It is a very open game, there is no negativity in the City side so Chelsea may have spaces to exploit.

"Willian has given away a couple of sloppy passes but he is allowed a bad five minutes in the season."

    Gary Cahill

    Concern for Chelsea?

The Blues medical team are on the pitch because Gary Cahill is down. Hamstring injury? Cahill gingerly walks to the edge of the pitch and attempts to stretch his leg.

Chelsea down to 10 men, for now.
