Summary

  • Gray penalty wins it for for Burnley

  • Immers and O'Keefe give Cardiff victory

  1. Bristol City 0-1 Cardiff Citypublished at 13:09 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2016

Quick bit of houskeeping, Cardiff City were forced into a change at the break with Lee Peltier making way for Sean Morrison.

On the pitch Jonathan Kodjia wins a corner that Cardiff keeper David Marshall flicks away.

  2. Burnley 1-0 Blackburnpublished at 37 mins

What an unbelievable save from Tom Heaton!

The ball falls to Blackburn midfielder Elliott Bennett on the edge of the box and he smashes towards the top corner, but Heaton somehow gets there to turn it round for a corner.

Heaton is then on hand to deny a deflected long-range effort from Hope Akpan.

Paul Lambert and Sean Dyche shared a surprisingly warm embrace given it's a derby match before kick off.

The smile on the 'Ginger Mourinho's' face probably hasn't been wiped off by the start his side have made, but Rovers are coming back into it.

  4. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:04 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2016

    Bristol City 0-1 Cardiff City

Back under way for the second half at Ashton Gate

  5. Burnley 1-0 Blackburnpublished at 32 mins

Blackburn have a sustained spell of pressure for the first time in the game, but after Tommy Spurr's cross into the box comes to nothing, Hope Akpan has a weak shot dealt with by the defenders when he had Ben Marshall free out wide.

    Get yer head up, son!

  6. Burnley 1-0 Blackburnpublished at 30 mins

Hope Akpan has his head in his hands after that corner.

The Blackburn midfielder glances the corner towards goal, but it just squeezes past the far upright. I reckon Scot Arfield on the post would have had that covered had it been on target.

  7. Burnley 1-0 Blackburnpublished at 28 mins

Burnley cannot fathom another goal from either corner - with Blackburn keeper Jason Steele winning a free-kick. The home players are crowding him out at every set-piece.

But Rovers go straight down the other end and win a corner of their own thanks to more good work from Ben Marshall.

  8. Burnley 1-0 Blackburnpublished at 26 mins

Burnley come oh so close to a second. The Clarets' build-up play is superb and George Boyd's ball into the area just evades Scott Arfield and is turned behind by Hope Akpan.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2016

    Bristol City 0-1 Cardiff City

I think Cardiff’s lead is a fair reflection on the first half. They have dominated the play. It’s as if they are the home side, not the away side.

I have no idea why Burnley centre-back Ben Mee is on the edge of the Blackburn penalty area, but he is and strikes towards goal.

However, it is smothered by Jason Steele.

  11. Burnley 1-0 Blackburnpublished at 20 mins

If Blackburn are going to get back into this match, they are going to need to take advantage of set-pieces.

But two successive corners are cleared easily by the hosts and Burnley keep their lead.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2016

    Bristol City 0-1 Cardiff City

It's half-time at Ashton Gate and it remains 1-0 to Cardiff City.

Lex Immers converted a Joe Ralls centre after 20 minutes and the Bluebirds have been good value for their goal.

Cardiff keeper David Marshall has saved well from Bristol City striker Jonathan Kodjia but that aside the hosts have struggled to create any meaningful chances.

    GOAL (Gray)published at 15 mins

    Burnley 1-0 Blackburn

Nerves of steel from Andre Gray as he places the ball right down the centre of the net - past the despairing dive of Jason Steele.

That's Gray's 19th Burnley goal of the season and the Clarets are going back to the top of the Championship as it stands.

  14. PENALTY (Burnley)published at 14 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Blackburn

The referee has no choice but to point to the spot here. Shane Duffy tries to hook clear a cross into the area, but George Boyd gets in front of him and is caught by the Blackburn defender.

  15. Burnley 0-0 Blackburnpublished at 13 mins

Blackburn fans celebrate as Danny Graham heads the ball into the net from Tommy Spurr's long throw, but their cheers are shortlived as the referee spots a foul in the build-up.

Then shortly after we have the first yellow card of the day as Jordi Gomez is booked for a foul on Joey Barton. You can bet that's not the last time the ref goes into his pocket today.

  16. Burnley 0-0 Blackburnpublished at 10 mins

Blackburn win a corner after good work from right-back Ben Marshall. Shane Duffy cannot connect with his header and the ball is cleared.

But referee Mike Jones awards a somewhat soft free-kick about 30 yards out, which is again swung in for Duffy but again cleared by Burnley.

  17. Burnley 0-0 Blackburnpublished at 8 mins

Headband warrior George Boyd is the next Burnley player to have a sniff of goal, but he cannot get enough power onto Stephen Ward's left-wing cross and the ball is easily gathered by the goalkeeper.

  18. Bristol City 0-1 Cardiff Citypublished at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2016

The game's really opened up at Ashton Gate as we enter the final few minutes of the first half.

Luke Freeman almost connects with Joe Bryan's deflected to shot to level before Anthony Pilkington forces a low save from Richard O'Donnell in the Bristol City net.

  19. Burnley 0-0 Blackburnpublished at 4 mins

Joey Barton is not exactly a prolific scorer but the ball falls to him on the edge of the area and his strike is deflected wide for a home corner.

Burnley's corner, though, is just out of the reach of centre-back Michael Keane, back in the side after concussion.

  20. Burnley 0-0 Blackburnpublished at 2 mins

Blackburn go straight up the other end and Jordi Gomez, playing at the tip of a midfield diamond, crosses in dangerously, but the ball evades everyone as well as the Burnley post.
