Today's Championship match at Turf Moor not only has meteoric significance in Lancashire, but also has pretty heavy implications in the race for the Premier League riches.

Sean Dyche's Clarets can regain top spot with victory over 16th-placed Rovers, having been overtaken by Middlesborough following the Teessiders' 2-1 win over Wolves on Friday night.

Gaston Ramirez's two goals helped secure Boro's win. For all you Mike Bassett fans out there, I guarantee there weren't three cheers in Lancashire.

Quiet opening few minutes here but the visitors have settled the quicker of the two teams.

The Bluebirds have lost just one of their last eight Championship games.

Let's turn our attention to Turf Moor for a second. To those outside east Lancashire this might just seem like any other game.

But this shirt from a fan outside Turf Moor today aptly sums up the mood of supporters going into the match.

“You can see how much it means to the fans building up to it the whole week before," Burnley full-back Matthew Lowton told BBC Radio Lancashire.

“Especially when you live around the area you see people on the streets and at work talking about it, so it’s massive for the fans you know that."

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson names the same XI that started last Saturday's 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, Cardiff recall veteran midfielder Peter Whittingham. He takes the place of Aron Gunnarsson after recovering from a calf problem.

The Robins could move up two places to 17th with a win while the Bluebirds would go seventh, one point behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday, if they take all three points back to Wales.

We'll be hoping for a slightly more exciting encounter than the one these pair served up earlier in the season.

October's meeting produced a sum total of zero goals and only one booking...
