I was listening to Alex Neil yesterday in his news conference. He said some people look for the doom and gloom, with pessimism ahead of these big relegation fixtures.

"We're not looking at it like that," he said.

Sadly for Neil the negative crowd (haters as the youngsters call them), are getting their fix today.

This is a bit weak now from Norwich. Nathan Redmond sends a pass down the left flank but no one is on his wavelength and it's a goal kick. Still Alex Neil stands and points on the sidelines. He's not giving up.

Sam Gibb: An inflatable canary has been thrown onto the pitch by Norwich City fans. Joining the 11 deflated canaries.

Francis Edwards: Norwich fans can moan about these 50/50 decisions, but really, both teams aren't good enough, both missing so many chances.

Don't worry Aston Villa fans, I've not forgotten you.

This result means Villa can still mathematically survive. The great escape is on.

"Norwich seemed to have fallen away, their impetus has gone.

"They need to get that back, this Sunderland defence looks rocky."

It's looking bleak for Norwich fans. They have been behind 23 times this season and not won once. They've managed to get four draws from losing positions but as Cameron Jerome gets ready to come on, this one looks a lost cause.

Steven Naismith not a bit happy at being replaced.

Sunderland have made a change in the middle of all the goal-line clearance chaos. Seb Larsson is on for Yann M'Vila. Larsson has a go from a free-kick but it's well wide.

Keep your heads down people. Big Sam is fuming. He's just punched the roof of his dugout after his side messed up the chance to score on the break.

Off the line not once but twice. Sunderland are digging in and Lee Cattermole is again celebrating a goal-line clearance. He's like some pumped up basketball player right now.

First it's Dieumerci Mbokani heading at a vacant goal only for a header to come back the other way and then Cattermole gets in the way of Wes Hoolahan's shot.

We have clear Norwich pressure on show. Their fans behind the goal are begging for a penalty at every opportunity too. My word, Sunderland fans, I hope you're heart rate can settle.

    Norwich 0-2 Sunderland

Dieumerci Mbokani is in, he's trying to wrestle that yard of shooting space and eventually gets enough on the ball to prod it goalwards, it trickles past Vito Mannone and is heading in but Lee Cattermole is in the right place to rush back and bang clear.

Andre Wisdom gets forward down the right and almost scores with a botched cross. Vito Mannone has to turn it over. In it comes, headed away by Younes Kaboul.

Norwich want a penalty as two juggernauts in Dieumerci Mbokani and Younes Kaboul wrestle. The Sunderland defender gets hold of his man early on, he got turned, but Andre Marriner points for a goal kick. The home side had a case there.

Another home change, Matt Jarvis departs, Wes Hoolahan comes in. I like Hoolahan, he makes things happen.
