Could it be a happy return to Liverpool for Rafa Benitez?

The Spaniard spent six seasons on Merseyside, winning the Champions League and FA Cup, but there won't be too much time for him to reminisce.

His first win as Newcastle boss last week boosted their survival hopes and three points today would be massive.

"It is a blow to Liverpool and to Sakho, him and Lovren were going so well at the back. They have Kolo Toure now who could come in and Lucas has played there. It is not ideal but it is just the way things are."

    Man City 2-0 Stoke

A notable honour for Shay Given earlier as he became the first Stoke player to play a league game aged 40 or over since Stanley Matthews, who was 49 (FORTY NINE!) when he played at Leicester.

It's an honour that lasted for only 45 minutes, though, because he has been replaced by Jakob Haugaard.

"They’ve bored me a lot this year. They’ve bored a lot of people who love football this year.

"I think what Van Gaal has managed to do with regards to what he has available, he’s doing well.

"He’s spent quarter of a billion pounds – when it comes to recruitment, it’s been poor - but when I look at his squad and what’s being put out on a weekly basis, they’ve won a lot of games I wouldn’t have expected."

Aside from the early kick-off between Derby and Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Brighton will be looking to keep the pressure on leaders Burnley, who are one point above second-placed Boro after last night's 1-0 win at Preston.

Middlesbrough host Ipswich while the Seagulls are at relegated Charlton.

With Bolton also already down, their remains only one more place in the drop zone.

MK Dons could become the final team confirmed for League One football next season - they have to beat Brentford and hope other results go their way to avoid going down today.

Today is the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death and we've already had some brilliant entries for our (very unofficial) sonnet competition.

"Frustrated and dispirited" Everton fan Paddy Joe has arrived with a brilliantly-timed lunge towards the trophy (there is no real trophy).

If twere done when 'tis done, then twere well it were done quickly

If the sacking could trammel up the consequence and catch with his surcease success

That but this blow might be the be-all and end-all here

But here upon this bank and shoal of time, Martinez would jump the life to come

    Relive classic FA Cup songs

Just to ensure things don't get too cultured in here, fancy seeing Alan Pardew belting out Glad All Over? Or Mark Hughes’ fuzzy barnet? Of course you do.

As it’s FA Cup weekend, let’s embarrass some of the managers of today with images of yesteryear and turn back the clock to a time when footballers singing FA Cup songs was big business.

What a time to be alive.
