    Newcastle 0-0 Crystal Palace

A Newcastle goal sends them clear of the relegation zone. And everyone knows it. It's really tense at St James' Park. Andros Townsend is taking on men like a player possessed and he wins a free-kick.

    Watford 1-2 Aston Villa

Imagine going to work on Monday morning and having the embarrassment of saying your team was beaten by Aston Villa at the weekend. Watford need to pull their finger out. Troy Deeney thinks he has hauled the hosts back level, only for Ashley Westwood to hack his header off the goal-line.

Is Duncan Watmore the answer? And if so, what is the question?

The youngster is on for Sunderland. Hero status awaits a brace...

    Everton 1-1 Bournemouth

A first Everton goal in over 300 appearances? Or landing a 20kg koi carp? Which would Tony Hibbert celebrate more? Tough one.

"Shooooot!" urge the Everton fans. The problem is the right-back - making his first appearance since December 2014 - is near the halfway line.

    Stoke 1-0 Sunderland

Stoke have gone old school this afternoon in a bid to see off Sunderland.

This graphic shows the home team has attempted to bombard the Sunderland box with plenty of crosses, though not always successfully. (Red arrows illustrate unsuccessful open play crosses, the green arrow - Charlie Adam - is the sole successful cross in open play which, incidentally, led to Marko Arnautovic's goal).

Brilliant defending from Angelo Ogbonna to cut out Craig Gardner's low cross. West Brom turning up the heat!

"That is an enormous goal. Sunderland need to find a way back and quickly."

Pete Thompson: Tony Hibbert is still a footballer?

    Yes Pete, yes he is.

    Newcastle 0-0 Crystal Palace

Newcastle tails are up. Georginio Wijnaldum cuts in from the left, he beats one man, keeps going, drives into the area like a turbo-charged Ricky Villa, finds a yard of space and shoots - but it is blocked.

Andros Townsend then has a shot blocked and Newcastle win a corner. Terrific start to the second half.

    Watford 1-2 Aston Villa

It's just like watching, er, Brazil! Sort of. Villa fancy a third now, breaking on the counter to leave Watford scrabbling back. Rudy Gestede has loads of space and time in the home penalty area, but shanks his shot worse than an amateur golfer.

A huge cheer greeted that Stoke goal when news filtered through by earpiece and smartphone. Goodness me what a finish to the season.

Surely Newcastle will be buoyed on to go and attack now?

Now then, that could be a big goal at the foot of the table! Stoke are ahead as Peter Crouch wins a header - Sunderland want a foul - and Marko Arnautovic absolutely crashes home left-footed from 12 yards out. Straight through the keeper!
