  1. 'PSG have sensational midfield'published at 18:51 British Summer Time 6 April 2016

PSG v Man City (19:45 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Sport

"I saw Paris St-Germain live against Chelsea in the last round in Paris and Chelsea did well to stay with them.

"Everyone talks about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Angel di Maria. But their three midfield players are sensational – Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta. They’re as good – or better - than any other midfield three in Europe. They run every single game."

Verratti is not playing tonight. The rest still stands...

  2. The best striker in Europe?published at 18:49 British Summer Time 6 April 2016

Tonight it's Sergio Aguero v Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Earlier in Sportsday, we asked you to vote on the best forward in Europe's top leagues this season.

Barcelona's Luis Suarez, who scored twice last night against Atletico Madrid, was the overwhelming choice with 36% of the vote.

Jamie Vardy (15%) was second, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (10%) third.

Ibrahimovic was seventh, with Aguero ninth.

The bottom two of our 15 choices? Gareth Bale (0.6%) and Thomas Muller (0.4%).

    Neil Lennon
Former Celtic boss on BBC Radio 5 live

"I thought PSG were excellent against Chelsea. I think City are a little bit weak in midfield - I think they'll be on the back foot and they will need Fernando and Fernandinho to play well."

  4. Last night's actionpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 6 April 2016

    Quarter-final first legs

Fernando Torres gave Atletico Madrid a shock early lead in Barcelona but was then dismissed, and two goals from Luis Suarez have put Barca on top. That away goal for Atleti makes the second leg very interesting though.

In the other tie Bayern Munich scored after 100 seconds but Benfica managed to leave the Allianz with just a 1-0 defeat.

    Pep's inbox

Pep Guardiola saw his Bayern Munich side move a step closer to the Champions League semi-finals last night, and tonight he has presumably cornered the TV in order to watch his new Manchester City side in action. If he's not in Paris, of course!

But what should the new boss be already thinking about? Who does he need to tie down? Who needs to be shown the door? What formation should he be playing? Who does he need to bring in?

Let's hope not Marcel. I'm not ready for that story to be honest...

  8. 'PSG have more assets in their game'published at 18:44 British Summer Time 6 April 2016

PSG v Man City (19:45 BST)

    Gerard Houllier
Former PSG and Liverpool manager on BBC Radio 5 live

"It is a fair point by Laurent Blanc that the Premier League is more exerting. Maybe because of that you have more injuries and you are weary when it comes to March and April.

"I’m afraid to say that PSG have more assets in their game but possibly less experience. Vincent Kompany is important to Man City and so is Yaya Toure, so they are without two major players.

"The winner of this tie can go right to the final."

In fact, not only has old Zlatan never won the Champions League, it turns out his record in the quarter-finals is absolutely terrible.

Tonight will see the great man play in the quarter-finals for the ninth time, but he has only progressed to the semi-finals once.

He is the only player to have played in the quarter-finals with five different clubs (Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG).

Former Man City defender on BBC Radio 5 live

"Time and time again we've seen them not perform on the biggest stage and not come together as a team. I just look at the PSG team and there are stellar names in that squad. I just worry about Manchester City keeping a clean sheet this evening."

  17. How's your pedigree?published at 18:33 British Summer Time 6 April 2016

PSG v Man City (19:45 BST)

Paris St-Germain have been eliminated in the quarter finals in each of the last three campaigns. Their last (and only) Champions League semi-final appearance to date was in 1994-95.

A PSG side boasting George Weah, Rai and David Ginola were outclassed by another great Milan side.

Manchester City have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history. They have won only one of their six games in the Champions League knockout stages (D1 L4).

    All to do...

It's a big night for Manchester City.

Almost eight years after their takeover by Abu Dhabi investors Manuel Pellegrini's side remain the last English side standing in the Champions League.

Their hopes of winning the Premier League for a third time have crumbled, but they are in the quarter-finals of European football's elite competition for the first time and have managed to avoid Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

Can they go an extra step and reach the last four?

    Zlatan IbrahimovicImage source, Reuters

To do so they must overcome a test that is almost as tricky as any of 'the big three.'

Paris St-Germain wrapped up the French title three weeks ago with a 9-0 win, they breezed past Chelsea in the last round and in Zlatan Ibrahimovic they have a giant of the game who is hungry for his first Champions League title.

    Feeling daunted yet?
