  1. Liverpool's late starterspublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 14 April 2016

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

"Liverpool came to this Europa League quarter-final second leg 10 minutes too late - and have paid a very heavy price.

"Borussia Dortmund are an exceptional side and may have finished Liverpool off almost before Jurgen Klopp's side got their feet under the table.

"Liverpool need three goals (it's been before) but Dortmund look a class act that have at least one more goal in them."

Neil Sharp-Dent: Such naivety to attack Dortmund from the start! Was always going be Liverpool's undoing

lfcway: We were expecting this Dortmund last week. I think they were just teasing us. Getting our hopes up.

JdeSatge: What I would give now for a Stevie G inspired 3 goal comeback!

"Borussia Dortmund have been exceptional. Liverpool look like they just met in the street. Liverpool have endured an absolute football lesson.

"I'm pretty sure Jurgen Klopp will have said to them that you have to be really careful with this team.

    "The game is gone."

And Jurgen did not mess about, bolting down the tunnel after whistle went. He obviously has a lot to work through over the next 15 seconds or so.

Mercifully for Liverpool there is not a second added on. Quite the team-talk needed for Jurgen Klopp now!

Shinji Kagawa flicks an effort at the near post which Simon Mignolet has to gather. A third goal would utterly see this game finished.

The tabloid gossip churners have been linking most of this Borussia Dortmund side to moves to England for a year or two. Why would they want to leave? A superb outfit. And they are still seven points off Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga is a serious competition.

I don't see Dortmund duffing two into the water from here.

Philippe Coutinho has a shot deflected wide and Divock Origi then can't force a header home once the corner comes over. Liverpool look dangerous in spurts. Dortmund are dangerous by default.

Oh my word this should be three or four nil. Dortmund are dancing to a different tune, and it's one that Liverpool don't know. They win a throw in on the left and seconds later the ball is at the feet of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 10 yards out. He slices it wide on the stretch.

If he could finish he'd be dangerous...

    Nice golf chat...

Is this the equivalent of taking a 10 at the first? Liverpool doing an "Ernie".

A new left-back has got to be high on Jurgen Klopp's summer wishlist. Along with a new home for Christian Benteke and a week in the Caribbean.

  13. 'Football lesson'published at 20:40 British Summer Time 14 April 2016

"It is just so easy to get in behind Liverpool. It hurts me to say it but Dortmund are giving Liverpool a real football lesson here.

"Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno is mostly in the Dortmund half - forgive me if I am wrong but didn't both goals come from that side."

  14. Liverpool responding wellpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 14 April 2016

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

"Borussia Dortmund's early salvo was lethal but Liverpool have responded really well. They have created five clear chances in the opening half-hour but have taken none.

"And that is the difference. All the while Liverpool are pressing there is an ominous threat about this excellent Bundesliga side."

  15. CLOSE!published at 31 mins

    Liverpool 0-2 Dortmund (Agg: 1-3)

Dortmund are so fast and strong, it's frightening. Right-back Lukasz Piszczek skins Emre Can and then drives into the box, he piles it across goal and somehow Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang misses a tap-in. Simon Mignolet got a slight - but crucial - hand to the cross.

    This could get embarrassing.

    Liverpool 0-2 Dortmund (Agg: 1-3)

Liverpool look OK in attack now as Philippe Coutinho scuffs a shot wide - it's just all a bit forlorn. If they can get one before half time then maybe, just maybe, this tie could still be alive.

If not we're going to live text Line of Duty in the second half instead. Deal?

  18. Elsewhere in Europepublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 14 April 2016

Shakhtar Donetsk also looking good value for a place in the last four. They are 1-0 up at home to Sporting Braga - Darijo Srna slotting home from the spot - and lead 3-1 on aggregate.

  19. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Liverpool 0-2 Dortmund (Agg: 1-3)

If you're just tuning in, a reminder that those two very early away goals mean that Liverpool now need to score three times.

It's the not conceding any more which looks like the biggest challenge though as only an offside flag prevents Henrikh Mkhitaryan from getting clear...

    Liverpool 0-2 Dortmund (Agg: 1-3)

Here's the next break as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one-on-one with Mamadou Sakho. The Kop inhale as one - but can breath out as the big man keeps pace with the striker and blocks his effort.

Moments later Liverpool win a corner which Roberto Firmino heads wide. Fabulous tempo.
