Liverpool have been much better since going 2-0 down. Which is about as weak a compliment as you can pay a side in a big knockout match, I know.

Cajoling, encouraging, inspiring - Jurgen Klopp remains a ball of energy on the touchline and Liverpool now force another corner after good work from Nathaniel Clyne. 

Look on the bright side Liverpool fans - give Klopp five or six years and this might be the sort of team you could have...

Divock Origi looks a threat, he peels off wide and then stands up a cross to the back post where Alberto Moreno arrives and slices his volley into the now shirtless Dortmund fans in the Anfield Road end. What a night they are having...

That's more like it, a lovely patient but slick move sees Adam Lallana roll in Divock Origi behind the Dortmund defence but his shot is blocked behind for a corner. Better, much better.

Needless to say the Anfield atmosphere has been dampened somewhat. Divock Origi does coax some noise from the faithful with a good turn but the best they can muster is a throw-in in enemy territory. 

Probably a good idea...

This could get worse before it gets better for Liverpool. Dortmund are all over them as they attack with pace and precision down either flank. It's a lesson. 

Liverpool may need to bring on Didi Hamann at half-time. Hit Steven Gerrard, look for the run of Vladimir Smicer...

I've just seen a replay of the second goal and it was a wonderful pass from Marco Reus to find Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. So clinical. Surgical. 

Villarreal are leading 1-0 at Sparta Prague and heading through from that tie as is stands, Cedric Bakambu with the goal.

Not quite as devastating a start as we've seen at Anfield.

What a start from Borussia Dortmund. They have flown at Liverpool and simply ripped them apart. Liverpool do not know what has hit them.

Liverpool look shell-shocked and no wonder. Anfield was stunned into silence for a few seconds - the Germans have been that good.
