"Atmosphere can work against you as players can get a bit carried away. Liverpool don't need to win this game - a 0-0 will do for them - so in the first 15-20 minutes they can see what Dortmund are doing.

"The thing about football is it is a 14 man game and substitutes can change the game. Tonight will be no different."

"These two clubs are so similar it is frightening."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: "Nothing is to compare with Hillsborough. We have to try to do our best tonight. It is an emotional subject but the best thing for us to do is play our best football - give people something positive to think about - and let's hope we can do that.

"It's all about trying the best in each moment. That's what we should try. I don't know if you have been outside - it's my first time that I have seen something like this - it's a good start to the night.

"I'm happy with the squad I have. So strong that even Kolo Toure, in his 280th spring, is not even in the squad. I don't know how long this game will be but, for sure, we will change three times and, Daniel Sturridge, I'm pretty sure will play and can hopefully decide the game for us."

Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren had arguably their best game for Liverpool in Dortmund last week as they shut out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and co. Can they keep a clean sheet again? Or do you see Thomas Tuchel's lads bagging an away goal?

'It could be 95 minutes, it could be 120-something' says Jurgen Klopp as he reminds us all that we could face extra-time and penalties tonight.

There will be a minute's silence before tonight's game as it is the nearest game to the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

"Good players aren't quiet for too long and we will see that from Borussia Dortmund tonight. They will love the atmosphere here.

"The whole mental thing about being a defender is that you have to be a pessimist. You have to think that your team-mates are going to miss everything. Once you get into that mentality you will usually come out on top."

Can you see Dortmund being intimidated?

The electrifying Anfield crowd under the floodlights usually invigorates the players on to victory on these pivotal nights in Europe. This is going to need to be repeated tonight as I see Dortmund scoring first. This would make the tie very interesting, so the home support must make the environment as intimidating as possible for the visitors so they feel the pressure more. Visiting players can become nervy from hostile atmospheres.

I saw Dortmund play at Manchester City a few years back and their travelling support was truly superb. An inspiration.

'You'll Never Walk Alone' should be decent tonight.

"Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool fans they will recognise similarities with themselves in the passion and colour of the visiting fans from his former club Borussia Dortmund.

"And Anfield is already awash with flags in the black and yellow of Dortmund at one end the red and white of Liverpool splashed all over The Kop.

"It's already loud and carries the promise of a special night."

Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel speaking to BT Sport: "If I see the Liverpool squad, I can't predict 0-0. I think there will be goals and, hopefully, one more for us.

"It is too soon to bring in Ilkay Gundogan. The most we can get is 30-45 minutes from him. He is a good substitute and I'm delighted he is with us."

  11. 'There will be goals'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 14 April 2016

    Liverpool v Dortmund (20:05 BST)

Liverpool will go through with a 0-0 but Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel says that there will be goals tonight. He has a barrel-load of attacking options to worry Simon Mignolet and co.

  12. Reds unbeatenpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 14 April 2016

    Liverpool v Dortmund (20:05 BST)

Liverpool are the only club to make it from the start of the group stage to now unbeaten in the Europa League, with four victories and seven draws. No team has gone 12 games unbeaten in a single Europa League campaign, group stage to final.

Atletico Madrid did manage 15 matches without defeat across two Europa League seasons, from November 2011 to October 2012.

The atmosphere appears to have been superb in Liverpool city centre all afternoon if the videos doing the social media rounds are anything to go by and it is already building inside Anfield.

That new stand is absolutely massive isn't it? Impressive stuff. A win tonight and the overhaul on the pitch may continue apace.

    Liverpool v Dortmund (20:05 BST)

When you think of the pre-match preparations of Europe's elite football clubs, you imagine world-class facilities, not those of a seventh tier non-league club.

But that was the choice of Borussia Dortmund, who trained at the Marine Travel Arena in Merseyside this morning, just hours ahead of kick-off at Anfield.

"I was approached by their agents in Manchester funnily enough on the morning of April 1 and I actually thought it was an April Fool," Marine chairman Paul Leary told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"We were assured it was a serious enquiry and we were delighted to assist them."

"Divock Origi's pace worried the two centre-backs last week. Jurgen Klopp has probably looked at how game the game will pan out and that Liverpool might be under pressure for spells and, sometimes to get up the pitch, his side might need to go long to Origi to relieve some of the pressure."

Is that the scent of a Champions League final on the breeze? The potential of a summer tournament? Wall-to-wall football for a month?Lovely.

"It was an un-Liverpool like performance in the first leg really, he set them up very well, but you have to be able to adapt."
