That is all from me. If you want to follow the reaction to this game and from the FA Cup last-eight tie between Man Utd and West Ham, which has just finished 1-1, you can do so here., external

    I'll see thee.

It doesn't get any easier than that for Spurs. Two Harry Kane goals, both set up by Dele Alli, sends them two points behind leaders Leicester.

Villa have now lost 20 games this season. There is no coming back from that.

I reckon I could have played in goal for Tottenham today. I'd have spent the game sat down, leaning against the post casually drinking a gin and tonic.

Spurs' final change sees Erik Lamela depart and Nacer Chadli charge on to help defend a free-kick. Harry Kane is the man who gets his head on it to clear.

What?! How?! Joleon Lescott comes in at the back post after a corner is flicked on and somehow plants his volley on to the side of the post and behind.

The offside flag is up but the defender didn't know that. Awful.

Dele Alli's work here is done. And what fine work it has been. Ryan Mason replaces him.

  8. HITS THE WOODWORK (TWICE)published at 85 mins

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

Villa are really unlucky. Just when they needed a break, the goal-frame cruelly denies them. Jordan Ayew beats two men with a run down the byline before shooting low against the base of the post before Rudy Gestede somehow lifts his follow-shot on to the bar.

Small clarification: Ayew was unlucky, Gestede should have scored.

Rudy Gestede is a big man, but for Toby Alderweireld this is a full-time job. The Villa striker looks to turn and get away but meets a brick wall and loses possession. Spurs have been superior in every department today.

Eriksen! Over the bar. Danny Rose gets free down the left and crosses low for the Dane to fire over from 15 yards out. That will be Eriksen's last act.

Nearly 3-0. The ball breaks for Erik Lamela in the box after Christian Eriksen's pass takes a deflection, but the winger's hot is blocked behind for a corner. The resulting set-piece is cleared by the home side.

Spurs are trying tricks now. Dele Alli looks to flick the ball through to Erik Lamela and gives a little grin when it doesn't come off. He's bought himself the right to try that with his two assists for Kane.

Oh, decent effort from Villa. Rudy Gestede chests down a throw-in from the left before volleying a shot across goal and wide. Hugo Lloris didn't have to dive but that is probably Villa's best effort of this half.

You know that bit in the Matrix when Keanu Reeves figures out he's the one and starts fighting the agents with one hand. That is what Spurs are like at the moment. It is so easy for them. Villa are running around and going nowhere.
