Michael Carrick halts Dimitri Payet's rampaging run and gives away the free-kick, 35 yards from goal. The Manchester United midfielder is also booked for his efforts. 

It is just iout of shooting range for Payet and instead he sends the ball into the area for Manuel Lanzini, but he can't direct his effort on target.

Manchester United must summon up all their courage to get something here tonight with West Ham United playing so well and Ander Herrera must do better than making very certain to a 50-50 with Angelo Ogbonna. Poor stuff and cost an opportunity.

Marouane Fellaini has been one of United's brighter sparks with a couple of surging runs.

Marouane Fellaini has been pushed further forward and there's now plenty of white shirts when Manchester United attack. Suddenly West Ham's fullbacks are not being quite as adventurous and the tide is just starting to turn.

Best chance of the game so far, and it goes Manchester United's way. 

Marouane Fellaini is put clean through and his shot deflects off Angelo Ogbonna's boot and Darren Randolph reacts quickly to push over. Daley Blind takes the resulting corner, but it's a poor one.

West Ham's desire to push forward could be their undoing, however. Marouane Fellaini steals the ball from the feet of Mark Noble in the middle of the park and quickly finds Ander Herrera, but Angelo Ogbonna is across quickly to stab away. The visitors come forward again and this time Marcus Rashford's shot is deflected behind for a corner, but that's cleared.

"West Ham are swarming all over Manchester United at every opportunity. I don't think United have put more than three consecutive passes together yet. United are under all sorts of pressure."

Some really good stuff from West Ham in these early stages. Fast, energetic, one-touch football and Manchester United can't get the ball at the moment.

A free-kick to West Ham on the left. This is danger for Manchester United as Dimitri Payet stands over it and Andy Carroll ominously makes his way into the area. Unusually, Payet's free-kick is poor though, failing to beat the first man. Let-off for the visitors.
