"That is a goal Marcus Rashford will want to see time and time again. It's the first bit of real quality in the final third. What a fabulous strike. He bends it gloriously into the top corner. West Ham have to really go for it now."

    Marcus Rashford

What a talent, what a goal!

Antonio's poor clearance rebounds to Anthony Martial, who finds Marcus Rashford on the edge of the area. A cheeky shimmy to shift the ball onto his right and Rashford executes a sublime shot, curling it into the top right corner.

    Beautiful goal.

    West Ham 0-0 Man Utd

Whenever he is in the area, Marouane Fellaini looks like what I'd imagine a bear on rollerskates would like. He's bumbling in possession but somehow it works as he brushes off one challenge and almost gets a pass across to Anthony Martial, but West Ham clear.

Then, Cheikhou Kouyate gives David De Gea the chance for a bit of catching practice with a speculative effort from distance.

"The first half was compelling but just lacked a bit of quality in the final third. Dimitri Payet hopefully has changed his boots because he was just a little bit out.

"There are a lot of good players out there but Manchester United are just missing that understanding between themselves in the final third."

    West Ham 0-0 Man Utd

Slaven Bilic is immediately waving his arms around on the edge of his technical area. That, in football terms, is the signal to 'gerrit forward'. His players haven't responded to that call yet though because it is Manchester United who have picked up from where they left off, Jesse Lingard launching an effort into the sidenetting from distance.

Andy Carroll let Ander Herrera know he was around late in the half. The FA Cup, the floodlights, the rain, a replay and an old-school tackle in there too. Ouch.

"It's got a little more scrappy as the tie has worn on. West Ham started at a ferocious pace. Payet has been a little bit off. As the tie wears on you are going to find both teams becoming a bit tense. No-one wants to lose this."

For the first 10 minutes, West Ham, and in particular Dimitri Payet, looked dangerous but they became far too predictable as the half wore on. Almost every attack came down the left - through Payet - and Manchester United have adapted to cope with it.

"I think Man Utd have been the better team in the fist half. Fellaini had a chance, Lingaard had a chance. Not a great game, not enough goal-mouth action. We expected more from West Ham and I think their manager will have a few words at half-time."

"I wonder if Slaven Bilic will tweak the system at half-time. Maybe to get the ball out wider earlier and get some really good crosses into the box. They haven't really done that."

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The Boleyn Ground

West Ham United opened with the sort of confidence you would expect but Manchester United have improved as the half went on and ended it the stronger team.

The Hammers need to get Dimitri Payet into the game more while Andy Carroill has been well contained.

Still all to play for in the battle to face Everton at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final.
