I saw Gareth Bale hurling in a proper Rory Delap throw for Real the other day. Superb.

Just about 15 minutes to go in Newcastle and the hosts continue to snap and harass all over the field. They look dangerous - but every time City get the ball to Kevin de Bruyne he's a different class. He gets past Cheick Tiote and earns a corner.

Wooosh! What a hit from Kevin de Bruyne, hit with pace and loads of swerve from 25 yards out and Karl Darlow has to move well to palm it out. 

Yaya Toure helped City win the league with a brace here four years ago but now he is withdrawn for the coda of this one, Fernandinho is the man on in his place.

That change means that Yaya Toure is now playing deep in a midfield two and he is instantly swamped, loses the ball to Cheick Tiote and Newcastle win a corner. Are these the final few games of Yaya Toure in the Premier League? What a specimen.

A terrific atmosphere inside the ground now. Roaring their side on as Raheem Sterling warms up for Manchester City. 

Ah that's a chance for City on the break though, Jesus Navas picking out Sergio Aguero this time but for once the great man tops his shot, hitting it tamely into the turf and then into the hands of Karl Darlow. 

Vincent Kompany is lucky to get away with another shaky touch and pass out wide, he's a long way from match fit. Rafa Benitez's name rings out from the stands as Newcastle continue to play at a breakneck tempo.
