From now on, unless told otherwise, assume that this game remains ruddy brilliant and an absolute belter.

Alexis Sanchez wants a month of Sundays to get a shot away. He spins into the area and looks like he's about to pull a left-foot trigger. But he cuts back and goes down under a challenge from Winston Reid, but doesn't ask for a penalty.

West Ham break, but Dimitri Payet's ball to Andy Carroll is overhit.

"This is a real classic. It's so difficult to call. Either team could go and win this now. This is what's so great about the end of the season. Both teams have to gamble. There's no point sitting back for a draw here.

"If West Ham want to get Champions League football, they've got to win this game. If Arsenal want to stay in this title race and hope the two ahead of them might slip up, they've got to win this game."

"This game has been relentless. The fans haven't had a breather, they're after the referee every opportunity. The atmosphere is red-hot and to be fair to the players  of both sets have really responded to it."

    End to end.

Aaron Cresswell lets fly from the left edge of the area and David Ospina sprawls across to touch it wide.

From the corner Andy Carroll nods it to the back post and Winston Reid athletically gets a foot to it, but the angle is too tight.

We've still got 15 minutes of this beautiful madness remaining. In a perfect world it would never end.

Gabriel is running around like Wile E Coyote after he's been hit by an anvil and gives the ball to Dimitri Payet. West Ham can't capitalise though.

At the other end, Olivier Giroud, off the bench for Mohamed Elneny, drops a header wide of the post.

Alistair Wiseman: That's a Tony Adams finish from Koscielny there. Composed, picked his spot. Impressive.

Matt: I am an Arsenal club member but refuse to buy a ticket to watch this team until Wenger makes massive defensive changes.

Mark: Sick of people saying 'this is why Arsenal won't win the league'. We never thought we would after the defeats against Chelsea and Swansea. Plus Leicester City's consistency.

Dimitri Payet wriggles inside from the left touchline and curls a low, right-foot effort at goal which David Ospina pushes behind.

Gabriel is still up in the clouds mind you. He tangles with Andy Carroll and looks like he flips out a leg at the striker. The referee doesn't see it and he's a lucky boy.

Try predicting this game. I dare you.

Arsenal had just started composing themselves and recycle the ball from a corner.

Mesut Ozil crosses from the right and Danny Welbeck, possibly more by luck, directs it into Laurent Koscielny's path and he prods in from five yards.

    And breathe.

Nacho Monreal thinks he's equalised for Arsenal.

Winston Reid nods away a corner and Monreal hits the dropping ball from 25 yards out. It fizzes towards the bottom-right corner but Manuel Lanzini is on the line to make a superb clearance.

"I would (take him) yes. He's my type of centre-forward. He looks really mobile, he's chased one down the line with Koscielny, who's quite quick and he's actually beat him in a foot race.

"The big man is really up for it and he's been magnificent. He need to be careful with his disciplinary side he doesn't want to spoil his day with a second yellow card but he has been tremendous.

"With 10 minutes to go in an England game, he could be an option for Roy Hodgson."

I've had a quick look down the Grand National runners and riders today for any fittingly named horses.

On His Own at 40-1 would probably sum up Andy Carroll's performance for West Ham today.

From the Arsenal point of view, there's The Romford Pele at 50-1.

What Arsenal would do for the majestic Ray Parlour right now.

That is among the things I thought I would never say.

Arsenal have fallen to pieces. They're making nothing and look like they're having a breakdown at the back.

Andy Carrol has had eight of West Ham's 10 shots. Slaven Bilic's decision to pick him is looking like a decent one.

Also, Carroll is the first Premier League player to score a hat-trick v Arsenal since Wayne Rooney in August 2011.

  20. Carroll for England?published at 14:01 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    West Ham 3-2 Arsenal

Wonder if Andy Carroll's already booked his summer holiday?

Luke: Andy Carroll showing why European defenders can't handle him. He was our best player at Euro 2012, get on the Eurostar son!

Ollie Woosley: would definitely take Carroll to the Euros for if we need a goal with 10 minutes to go. Unplayable in the air.

Jay: You know it's time to question your manager when Andy Carroll scores a hat-trick against you.
