While Spurs wave goodbye to White Hart Lane after a memorable season, it is my turn to say farewell too.

But Sunday's footballing fun is far from over. Head here for the big top-four clash between Manchester City and Arsenal or here if Liverpool v Watford is more your thing. Laters.

  2. No Chelsea hangover - Pochpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

    Tottenham 1-2 Southampton

Spurs manager Maurico Pochettino: "The first half we played very well, and we had more than 70% possession. But we needed to be more solid and show more consistency - we lacked this today. I'm disappointed but we're still fighting.

"There was no hangover from last week - we started the game very well. They had few shots and scored two goals, but this is football and I congratulate Southampton.

"We still need to learn a lot of things - we need to keep improving into next season. It's important to finish second, and to do that we need to win games."

  3. A big win - Koemanpublished at 15:56

    Tottenham 1-2 Southampton

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman: "Tottenham had a better start in the game but we fought back, and in the second half we deserved at least to score one. It's a great win for us, because to win here against Tottenham, one of the best teams in the league, is a big result.

"Overall that was a very good, strong performance. If we can win next week at home we'll have 63 points - a really fantastic achievement by the team. We like to play in Europe, and it's important for the club and the players. We know about Thursdays in Europe and Sundays in the Premier League.

"It's never too late in a season to score goals, and Davis had a massive game today. His productivity made the difference."

    • Indeed, Tadic now has eight top-flight assists in 2016, a joint-high along with James Milner
    • Steven Davis netted his first-ever Premier League brace in this game

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk: "Our teamwork was fantastic and a little bit of quality from Steven Davis with two amazing goals. A great win, especially looking at the European qualification places.

"Fraser Forster is an amazing goalie and he showed it at the end. A great save late on and a great win.

On signing a new six-year deal: "I think Saints is a great club with a lot of ambition and it's on a lift. It's perfect for me to have signed a new deal and I'll be here for a couple more years."

Plenty of Spurs greats are on their feet at the Lane, clapping as the current squad go on a customary lap of honour after the final home game of the season.

A well-deserved lap of honour, I must add - no matter where they end up finishing in the final Premier League table.

But I bet Ray Clemence, Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa would not have walked around with a selfie stick (if they existed in their day). Son Heung-min and Josh Onomah are the culprits.

  9. 'A very good performance from Southampton'published at 15:41

    Bradley Allen
Former QPR striker on BBC Radio London

"Spurs did look a little bit tired and fatigued and simply couldn't find that cutting edge to get that equaliser.

"But a very good performance from Southampton as they edge closer to that Europa League place."

  10. Chelsea defeat didn't affect us - Eriksenpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

    Tottenham 1-2 Southampton

Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen: "We tried as much as we could. It's been a long season and this defeat wasn’t because of Monday. The last few games we haven’t managed to keep it going.

"We had a good first 20 minutes but we didn't win. We were a bit unlucky today - we had chances and there were two great saves. We missed the last chance, whereas Saints had three chances and scored two goals.

"The last game of the season will be for pride and to keep ourselves where we want to be. We need to finish strong. Playing Newcastle will be a tough game, especially if they have something to play for. Let's hope we finish well."

It does not quite match Leicester's celebratory beer and pizza, but some freebies are being handed out in the posh seats at White Hart Lane. Why? Because the packed crowd are waiting to congratulate the Spurs players on a superb season following their final home game. First out is Toby Alderweireld, who collects a couple of player of year trophies from a grey-haired, female fan.

Saints match-winner Steven Davis, who doubled his seasonal tally with both away goals: "I don't score many so that was a great day. They have great quality, Spurs.

"The aim at the start of the season was to do better than last year, and we have matched last season's points tally. Who knows where one more win will take us."

    David Pleat

"Very strong from Southampton. Fraser Forster in goal is very confident and will be a good deputy to Joe Hart in the Euros this summer.

"Saints break very well and played a clever game. Spurs needed to extend their lead when they went 1-0 up and were playing very well, but they were unable to do that."
