Manchester City moved on from Maine Road in 2003 to take over at what is now the Etihad.

Maine Road had its idiosyncrasies - the four stands were all of different shapes and sizes - but the fans certainly loved it.

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan speaking to Sky Sports:

"I think the Police and officials have been kind, I would make them kick off at 7.45 if it was up to me. Manchester United know the score, they should have been here at four o'clock.

"I'm worried about the supporters. We had a wonderful show planned and some won't be able to stay now."

Manchester United arrived late, as they did for the recent London game at Tottenham, and were met by thousands of West Ham United fans thronging around near the entrance to the stadium as kick-off.

It was then that the attack on the team coach, as confirmed by United captain Wayne Rooney, took place.

United's goalkeepers are only just coming out to warm up and how this latest delayed arrival, and the chaos that greeted it, affects their preparation remains to be seen - what is certain is that some of the behaviour of supporters outside have taken the edge of the celebratory tone of the occasion.

You would imagine that the move to the Olympic Stadium will see the end of all manner of small businesses around Upton Park. But maybe not.

When the Hammers are at home, healthy queues form outside Nathan's Pies and Eels shop on the Barking Road, but Richard Nathan is also unsure if his family-run business, first opened in 1927, will survive.

"It managed to survive through the second World War and various family members managed to keep it going. There is a lot of history," he said.

"It has kept going through thick and thin but things change."

  6. 'The images tell everything'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

West Ham v Man Utd (20:30 BST)

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, speaking to Sky Sports: "What do I have to tell? The images tell everything. I have seen also the police were taping. It is also a lot of emotions for people but for us it is the second time in London we have to start later. It is better than last time because we have received our preparation time.

"It is not the first time I have seen that. It is not so nice. The way we have been received is not the proper way of course. That makes all the influence on the players and that is a pity."

  7. 'Get here at 4pm'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

West Ham v Man Utd (20:30 BST)

West Ham co-Chairman David Sullivan speaking to 5 live: "It is depressing really, it will be a late night for our fans and some of them won't be able to stay. I don't understand why United couldn't get here at 4pm. They could have got here early. They knew it would be busy. It's crazy.

"There was congestion in the street and they couldn't get the coach in. There were people around the coach, but there was no attack on the coach.

"If you check the coach there won't be any damage to it. If we arrived late at Old Trafford they wouldn't put the kick-off back."

Roker Park was Sunderland's home for 99 years before the Black Cats moved to the Stadium of Light in 1997.

The acoustics of the ground were impressive, with the chants of the diehard fans famously referred to as "The Roker Roar".

These days, houses sit on the site of the ground but Roker Park is remembered by street names such as Promotion Close, Clockstand Close, Goalmouth Close, Turnstile Mews and Roker Park Close.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney: "It wasn't nice. The coach got smashed up, but we're here now, so have to prepare for the game and go out and do our job”.

    How ugly was it?

“I'm sure you'll see the images. That's not for me to say, but I think it was disappointing of course. We know it's a big game for West Ham, big night for them, leaving the stadium, but I'm sure West Ham as a club will be disappointed with what the fans have done."

"The players are not kids, they know the whole build-up, it is historic. We try to use that to be our detonator, to get more out of them.
