Manchester United have lost none of their last 14 Barclays Premier League games against West Ham United (W11 D3 L0).

Wayne Rooney has scored 11 goals in 15 Premier League appearances against West Ham for Manchester United as well as a record seven as an opposition player at the Boleyn Ground in the competition.

I don't recall any of this fuss when Coventry left Highfield Road or Stoke left the Victoria Ground. Any reason why?

Name that ground - Good old Springfield Park! Happy Days.

Stoke's home for more than 119 years - Victoria Ground - closed its turnstiles on 4 May 1997 after the Potters had played West Brom.

Over the years fans had witnessed many memorable moments including the exploits of Sir Stanley Matthews, who played his final game for Stoke at the age of 50. His ashes are buried beneath the centre circle of Stoke City's current home - the Britannia Stadium.

What has become of the site where the Victoria Ground once stood now? A report last year says it still lies empty, with plans to build a housing estate yet to come to fruition.

Arsenal said farewell to Highbury in 2006 with a 4-2 win at home to Wigan.

They had played at Highbury since 1913 but moved to their new plush Emirates home that summer.

  8. 'Olympic Stadium won't be a fortress'published at 19:06 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

West Ham v Man Utd (19:45 BST)

It will be "impossible" to recreate the Upton Park atmosphere and make the Olympic Stadium a "fortress", says West Ham manager Slaven Bilic.

The Hammers play their final competitive game at their 112-year home tonight before moving to the 60,000-capacity London 2012 Olympics venue next season.

"You need to have a hostile atmosphere, be intimidating for away teams. Forget about it - no chance," said Bilic.

"The Upton Park stadium was a first home. No matter where you move after that - if you move to a fancy apartment, a big house or to a mansion - your favourite one is always the first.

"You are losing something because it is impossible to make the Olympic Stadium a fortress."

  9. Van Gaal playing strongest handpublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Upton Park

Louis van Gaal is playing arguably his strongest available Manchester United side here at West Ham United tonight - with Anthony Martial making a rapid return to fitness from a hamstring problem.

The door to the top four is suddenly open for Van Gaal's side after Manchester City's defeat at Southampton and draw at home to Arsenal.

If United win here tonight and at home to Bournemouth on Sunday they will be in the Champions League with an FA Cup Final appearance to come - is Van Gaal on course to still be at Old Trafford next season?

  10. United going for top fourpublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

West Ham v Man Utd (19:45 BST)

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal: "We have to win our matches because otherwise we cannot be in the first four - that's the pressure that we have. We have to fight until the end.

"West Ham are a very good team - it's not for nothing they're in the top six of the table. We were lucky in the FA Cup. I think we deserved to win but we were lucky West Ham had a goal disallowed in the last minute."

  15. LvG to stay after all?published at 18:51 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

West Ham v Man Utd (19:45 BST)

Louis van Gaal's side will move into fourth with one game remaining with a win tonight.

Quite remarkable given the amount of stick he has come in for all season. United still need two points to surpass their lowest ever Premier League tally of 64 points.

On the face of it, it seems that no football fans actually prefer a 'new' ground when they move.

For all of the better facilities, better parking, ease of access, more comfort - I tend to only hear fans moaning about the lack of atmosphere, loss of character etc.

West Ham United are determined to make the last game at Upton Park a very special occasion - and a band have already been out on the pitch warming up with the traditional cup final hymn "Abide With Me."

Plenty of former players backstage including Paolo di Canio wearing a very lively claret and blue suit to mark the occasion.

West Ham will sell off seats from Upton Park for £50 each along with a treasure trove of other items ahead of their Olympic Stadium move.

West Ham will auction trophies, photographs and shirts - with proceeds invested in the club's youth academy.

Caps, programmes, pennants, a small turnstile, an exercise bike from the home dressing room, a physio treatment table and flight case are also on offer.

Other lots include a mobile programme seller's stand, training mannequin, and the fax machine used by managers before current boss Slaven Bilic.

Two separate sales will be held later this month - one for stadium contents and the other for football memorabilia.
